Black Sweat is killing my ears

Don't get me wrong: I LIKE the track.

But the high synths are bad for my ears. I have to turn down the volume of this track if i hear the whole album!Who mixed and mastered this?

Question: Am i the only one with this problem?

hehe, no joke...i have to turn the volume down to a point where I can't enjoy the track. This is a shame, cause i like it. But I fear that I hurt my ears if I don't do...I fear an actual hear loss, cause I got REAL pain in my ears.. sad

Well I can't change the amp of my iPod.

Hopefully he'll be playing it live on tour and it'll be sounding perfect.

That lead synth is OUT of the mix. It's to hot. Prince needs a new mastering technic. He has been in the game too long for shit production like this.

It was scary.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Every time the video comes on, my dog just stares at the TV and gives one of those head-cocked "WTF is that?" looks.

I guess it hurts his ears too...but it's so cute. biggrin

Do you know you can turn the volume down or even better equalize a particular song or album in iTunes so it won't distort when played on an iPod? smile

I couldn't stand it at first but that was on my PC speakers.

On my good speakers (or even a decent boombox), this song seems designed to make your system hisss, buzz, growl and whistle like some kind of electronica choo-choo train. The synth is supposed to be in-yer-ear.

This one revealed itself a Prince classic all of a sudden.

but then wouldn't he need to change the equalizer back so the other 4000 songs on his ipod sound good?

I have some albums that constist of nothing else than that type of high-pitched tones. Even much higher, and the songs go for over ten minutes or so. It's awesome stuff.

you (or someone else - i don't feel like it) should take the time to do a step by step on how to do that with itunes (perhaps there is a website) and one of the mods in here can make it a sticky.

i'm sure a lot of people would be grateful smile

You can equalize one song in iTunes
Select the song, right click it, options and there you can modify the sound level and select one of the many equalizations.
If you select a whole album yo can do it at a time.

Don't forget to actualize your iPod after that.

The good thing is that the file is not modified ( you can undo these operations any time)

Reminds me of the Summer of 88 when PE's "Rebel Without A Pause" was screaming out of Jeeps all over Philly and peircing every eardrum in sight.

I love the song.
