oh no - I bought them all through the last 25 years!

as I have many of them on LP, I also bought the CD-Versions of all of them!

I'am just in the middle of Purple Rain - When Doves Cry

Today so far:

- Prince
- Dirty Mind
- Controversy
- 1999
- 1/2 of Purple Rain

and I have to admit: there hasn't been a lot of bad songs so far!! as a music critics wrote 2 days ago in a big austrian daily news: Prince will never make a bad CD, he just makes good or less good ones ...

still to say: I got a job to do smile

exactly - thats the point: after listing a lot of times to 3121 I decided to go back to his roots and listen 2 his albums piece by piece.

its worth it!!!

What no For You???? I know it sucks a bit, but its still listenable. Also ill wait to see if you think its such a good idea when you get to 1996 and that medley of Chaos & Disorder / Emancipation hits. Jeez thatll be one 3 1/2 hour rollercoaster. You'll deserve a medal if you get through all 3 emancipation discs and dont skip a single song.

Actually, my favourite thing to do is que up my Ipod Prince playlist, plug it into my stereo, and sit back and listen - All day. Its chronological and includes all Time, Vanity, Apollonia, Family, Sheila E & Jill Jones albums, as well as all his 12"'s, B-sides & outtakes. Its a huge task, and i skip quite often, but its just phenomenal taking stock of how perfectly this mans music evolved through the 80's and into the 90's.

Obviously i dont have enough time to do this all the way through, but its nice to have an 80's day, or a 90's day. Even a 00's day can be quite cool, although i have to make sure my ipod is within arms reach to avoid any nasty "Everyday s A Winding Road" moments. Most days are 80's days to be honest.

and a month later the same time back.

without playing anything between i played cronological everything and got to 1999 the year. it was great fun and gave me a great understanding of prince's progression

gaaaa, it does not suck at all. It's a wonderful, fun, sweet, beautiful album with smooth soul, funky disco and a surprisingly hard rocker at the end.

Yeah me likey the hard rocker at the end. I said it sucked a little.....it does, the songwriting is weak, the production too much, and his singing is too soft for my liking. But i can still listen in spite of that. For You is stunning, Soft & Wet is frickin brilliant, In Love is quite cool, as is Just As Long As We're Together, and Im Yours is funk rockingly great, but the rest is dross. Hence me saying it sucks a little but i can still listen.

Okay, so you're not feeling the high-school-journal-entry vibe of Baby, So Blue and Crazy You. I get that. But I agree with you on the others. Except that In Love is not just cool, it's a triple-Prozac-iced-latte with extra whipped cream for me. Always makes me happy. biggrin

I must deserve a hell of a lot of medals, cos I constantly listen to the likes of Emancipation, NPS and Rave without skipping a single song!!
So look into the mirror, do u recognise some1? Is it who u always hoped u would become, when u were young?

"For you" was on my list the day before - and as i mentioned, i absolutly adore this cd - in my eyes its just a masterpiece!!!

Next is around the world in a day - looking forward to "the ladder" ...
