Would you know Prince is a Jehovah's Witness if you weren't a superfan?

A friend of mine is a casual Prince fan. She doesn't frequent the websites, own any boots, but he does have a bunch of Prince albums. She called me up the other day and asked me if Prince was a Jehovah's Witness. I was surprised that she didn't know already (she read it in a magazine.) She replied that she knew he was all about Jesus and sex etc. She didn't see the massive change in his lyrical content that some around here see.

Anyways this got me wondering: If you only knew about Prince through his lyrics would you know his current religion of practice is Jehovah's Witness?

I maintain that Prince's message is the same as always (Love, sex, God, music, etc.), but I know some of you disagree..... what do ya'll think?

No it doesn't. However, some here would argue that it has changed his music for the worse. I don't agree-just wondering.

Since they mention it in almost every review, article or interview, then yeah, I'd probably have an inkling.

Doubtful. Most of the people I talk to about Prince are surprised if I mention it. Hell, a lot of people still think he goes by prince .

Lame non-superfans. They should really be ashamed of their ignorance. lol
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

You'd have to be a superfan to even know about that album.

There has been so much JW dogma in his lyrics for years now, but I agree, if I wasn't the obsessed fan that I am, then I probably wouldn't even notice. Take "Get On The Boat" and "The Word" for example. They were clearly written to encourage people to join the Bible-Bandwagon, but they could just as easily be interpreted as being simple worldly-love/positivity songs.

I'm not a JW (I try my best not to label my religious beliefs), but I got no problem with him preaching his message. It makes me think. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don't. In the end, he's still basically preaching to love thy neighbour, so there ain't nothing wrong with that!
