[Discuss Prince's Brit Awards appearance, news etc here. All other threads will be locked* and redirected here]

Previous sticky thread here: http://www.prince.org/msg/7/177482

Please try and keep any irrelvant posts such as 'I'm so excited!', 'OMG - He's on!' etc to a minimum. We know y'all are excited,
but let's keep this constructive so those folks on dial-up ain't hindered having to wade through it all. Just the facts please! biggrin

CURRENT INFO:

From The Brits Blog (15th Feb 2006):
There is one more rehearsal to round off the day, but it’s so secret and special that we can’t tell you a about it. Nothing. Nada. Zip.
You’ll just have to wait until the big show when all will be revealed. Not long now...

By all accounts, BBC Radio 1 are only going to be broadcasting live from backstage at the Brit Awards tonight - not the actual show itself.

Just to confuse matters even further, apparently you can listen live to the Brits Tonight online - but only on XMradio.

However, I've just signed up for the free, 3 day trial and it's easy, no hassle.

All,

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, however after a whole day of absolute pandemonium, Universal Records have decided to cancel the plan for a Prince aftershow gig tonight.

I know many are planning on making the trip regardless, however I have been asked by the record company to clarify that there will be NO AFTERSHOW GIG tonight.

Prince only requested this morning that he wanted to play and unfortunately setting up such an event on such a busy night for the music business was logistically impossible. Ironically the one thing that we did have set up was a generous ticket allocation for Prince fans.

On behalf of Island Records (a division of Universal) I can only apologise for the delays and confusion that has been happening about tonight.

Prince's current plan is to leave the UK in the morning, however one thing I'm sure everyone as Prince fans appreciate - things can change (just not at such short notice wink

Actually, it doesn't really say that the actual show will be broadcasted anywhere. Neither on bbc1 or 2, unfortunately. I guess we'll just have to check it later today.

Deadstar

Apparently in the soundcheck he played Lets Go Crazy, Purple Rain and another tune the reporter on Radio 1 didn't know! Maybe a new tune! Don't know if this will mean he will play these tunes though?

We'll have to see!!

Plus I bet he does perform somewhere tonight!!

just pulled this off the brit's web site.

The BRIT Awards 2006 • BlogAbout News Blog Video Photos MasterCard
Rehearsals Day 3 (Part II)

After grilling several people working backstage, we’re disappointed to discover that there are no diva-ish dressing room demands from this year’s stars. No bowls of jelly babies with the green ones taken out, and no requests for bouquets of white lilies and flouncey curtains. In fact, Kanye West is the only person with a special requirement. Apparently, he only likes to eat jerk chicken, so the caterers have got some prepared just in case…

All the performers and presenters are set to get spoilt tomorrow by the lovely ladies in the Jo Malone rooms backstage who are already being kept busy by The BRITs’ stressed out guests. VIP’s can pop in to have facials, back and neck rubs and hand massages – and the very shy can even have the treatments in the privacy of their own dressing rooms.

But maybe someone should have told Coldplay they were set to get free candles in their room? The lads tried to swipe a Jo Malone scented number from the artist liaison office earlier in the day. Cheeky.

Jack Johnson is the third performer to rehearse today, and it’s just one man and his guitar as he treats onlookers to one of his soulful tunes. And he’s glad he’s got time to run through the track several times as he admits, “I haven’t played this song for months so I need the practice!”

Come the big BRITs day tomorrow, VIPs will also get fabulous goody bags from the Estee Lauder room, a haven of twinkling fairy lights and candy-coloured furniture. It also boasts some incredibly knowledgeable beauty experts, on hand to help the stars look even more fabulous than they do already!

There is one more rehearsal to round off the day, but it’s so secret and special that we can’t tell you a about it. Nothing. Nada. Zip. You’ll just have to wait until the big show when all will be revealed. Not long now…

Just wondering who that could be?

BBC 2 just said it's a toss up between "Purple Rain" and "Little Red Corvette" as the Prince performance.

Just a speculation from Earl's Court.

Now their jammin' WDC(on the radio)!

No probs - correction though, apparently BBC Radio 1 are only going to be broadcasting live from backstage at the Brit Awards tonight - not the actual show itself.

So, just to confuse matters even further, apparently you can listen live to the Brits Tonight online on xmradio. The only thing is you'll need to sign up for a free Trial Here: http://www.xmradio.com
