UPDATE - re: 'THE 10 ROOM', London... Guys - I can't say much at the moment but trust me on this...
There is NOTHING happening at the 10 Room in London! Gavin from Uptown has told me that there is a plan for SOMETHING tonight but I can't speak at the moment - please give me about an hour or so and I MAY be able to announce something but do not make plans for the 10 room - OK ? Any updates will be posted here - DO NOT org note either myself or Gavin until told to do so. BC

All,
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, however after a whole day of absolute pandemonium, Universal Records have decided to cancel the plan for a Prince aftershow gig tonight. I know many are planning on making the trip regardless, however I have been asked by the record company to clarify that there will be NO AFTERSHOW GIG tonight. Prince only requested this morning that he wanted to play and unfortunately setting up such an event on such a busy night for the music business was logistically impossible. Ironically the one thing that we did have set up was a generous ticket allocation for Prince fans. On behalf of Island Records (a division of Universal) I can only apologise for the delays and confusion that has been happening about tonight. Prince's current plan is to leave the UK in the morning, however one thing I'm sure everyone as Prince fans appreciate - things can change (just not at such short notice Gavin McLaughlin Uptown Magazine

Oh man... Talk about demoralising... I was all geared up for a very late night and a sickie tomorrow!
Surely he aint just gonna show up in London without playing somewhere. Maybe he will do something off his own back as opposed to doing it through the record company.

My house is free, I only have a small loungeroom, but enough for a stool, and man and a guitar. Happy is he who finds out the causes for things.Virgil (70-19 BC). Virgil was such a lying bastard!

Why cant the largest record company in the world throw a simple gig in a small club rather than spending the whole day getting themselves in "absolute pandemonium" all about it? http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.

It's been a bloody nightmare and intense for me too, so God only knows how Gav managed to stay so cool It was nice and increadibly generous of him to consider allocating some tickets to both us and HQ, so major props to him, I'm sure you'll all agree.

I am sure he has been run ragged, just trying to book london clubs for anything is hard enough months in advance. A days notice is impossible, especially today! Thanks for both your efforts. Was it a club thing? In terms of allocation, I was planning to draw up a list in conjunction with Banana C on here and gsh on Housequake. The planned distribution method was highly technical - Get everyone in a pub, check they were who they said they were , and then give them a ticket

Actually it's a valid question. The problem wasn't actually so much getting a venue, there's a number of logistical points you need to take into account including: 1) Making sure it's not all execs and media otherwise zero atmosphere (that's where I came in) 2) Getting the media to come to an event when there's dozens others happening across town 3) Getting VIP's to come to the event as above 4) Contacting the above in sufficient time But most importantly you have to consider whether the event going off half cocked with a bad turnout is worth the risk with a major release coming up?
