If you have Purple Rain on DVD, look at the Trailer to the movie, half the scenes they show are not in the movie, where are they??? There's one scene where Prince is in the warehouse that the Time a the two App 6 girls was rehearsing (the "Asses Wigglin' " spot) anyway, they show Prince punching one of the members of the Time. Theres a couple more of them, I wonder if they will ever release those missing scenes???

Eye did here that some certain scenes were shot but left out of the movie, guess some of them showed up on DVD! that's COOL!

I was on a website that had a draft of "Purple Rain"
before Prince asked the webmaster to remove it.

There are quite a few scenes in the script that would've
made the movie more interesting than it already is.

I thought the script was a fake until I saw the Purple
Rain trailer on dvd and noticed that not only the script
was real but the scenes were left on the cutting room floor!!

If memory serves me correctly here are some so called missing scenes (I still kind of wondering) :

1. A fight between Prince and a bodyguard at an appalonia six rehersal.

2. Appalonia running away with Morris from Prince's house
after a fight breaks out with his parents. (After the first love scene which better explains his performance in darling nikki)

3. The full Barn Sex scene. (The movie shows a clip during the song "when doves cry")

4. Princes mother giving him one of her earrings. (If you noticed in the scene before Prince hits Appalonia for the first time a fight broke out between his parents. In that scene he has nothing in his ears but the very next scene he has a hoop earring in one of his ears.)

5. Another sex scene where Prince tries to rape Appalonia after her performance of "Sex Shooter"

There are more little things in the script that better explains the movie.

It's not uncommon for trailers to show scenes that never ended up in the final movie edit. It happens all the time.

About the earring; didn't Appolonia give him that earring in the movie?

I don't think there'll be any special anniversary edition of Purple Rain. WB has thrown Purple Rain out there like it was just another movie with nothing special about it. They even put it out as some kind of a double feature VHS tape with another movie that was totally unrelated.
The only way that anything special will be done with the Purple Rain anniversary is if Prince and WB can work together on the project to make it special.

hey Billy, if i remember correctly, i think Purple Rain also had an X rating before it's release. they had to delete those extra scences in order for it to get an R rating.

What I never understood about this movie is when people say there are incidents of RAPE in it. I don't see it. Is it when Prince tried to put the moves on Appolonia when she was drunk, and she proceeded to throw a hissy fit? Is it just me, or should I be drunk while viewing this movie, too?

If it were truly a great film, though, it would have already gotten the grand treatment a long time ago. Fact of the matter is that Purple Rain is a B-movie that happened to make a little extra money at the box office.

i actually bought the dvd last friday (5.99 in the hmv sale folks) and watched it on the weekend, for the first time in, oh, at least 10 years

i was cringing at certain points but overall its not too bad and the revolution STILL blow up the spot.

a B-movie or not, I still would like to see the uncut version...
