I HAVE NEVER HEARD THE FOLLOWING P ALBUMS...

...except any of the 'hit singles' featured on them:

1. Prince
2. Parade
3. Graffiti Bridge
4. Black Album
5. N.E.W.S.
6. Most of "Emancipation"

I consider myself an avid fan...saw the musicology tour 3 times last year...someone please tell me which of these is the best or better yet which songs from each are the best, if you'd be so kind:)

my fave P songs:

Wanna Be Your Lover
Pink Cashmere
It
Uptown
Soft and Wet
Shhhh
Do Me Baby
Beautiful ones
Doves Cry
Pop Life
I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

There's nothing wrong with that. I consider myself an avid fan of Frank Zappa or Herbie Hancock, but I don't own a lot of their albums...

Having said that, Parade and The Black Album are essentials. Both are real funky with just the right amount of experimentalism. Prince is nice, but perhaps a little too sweetsy. Grafitti Bridge and Emancipation are good, but a little inconsistent. NEWS is cool if you're into instrumentals/new age/jazz, but it's not everyones cup of tea.

You definitely need to get Parade ASAP! Prince is the only album on your list that I don't have yet, so I can't speak to that...but I just got the Black Album this week and recommend it over the remaining three that I have heard.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Oh my God you need to get Parade right now on the double! That is so important as a P fan. Then get Prince and The Black Album. You can choose what you want afterwards but Parade, Prince and Black Album are important.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I didn't say there was anything wrong with not hearing the Parade album,it's just when you proclaim that you are an "avid" Prince fan,to not have heard the Parade album strikes me as peculiar...
That would be like me saying that I am Bruce Springsteen's biggest fan and then saying that I have never heard the Born In The USA album.that's all, nothing wrong with it though,to each his own! razz

You must get the Parade album this very instant, lock yourself in a private, secluded spot and listen to it from start to finish -- no skipping ahead! Once you have experienced Parade sufficiently, you should get The Black Album, but this time don't lock yourself. Play it on big speakers and maybe do a little cleaning between dance steps.`

Graffiti Bridge and Emancipation are very flawed albums, but do contain their fair share of great songs and a few b-list ones that are really not that bad if you forget for a moment the guy is supposed to be a genius. NEWS is mostly an excuse for Prince and his musicians to stretch their collective musical leg. Good to have but not what Prince does best.

Not having Dirty Mind and Controversy is like missing part 1 and 2 of The Lord of the Rings.

has 'parade' ever been remastered?

come to think of it have any of P's albums been remastered?

warner sucks. 'purple rain' '1999' and 'like a prayer' all need to be re-issued.
