Preach on girl. The old school knows what time it is. Something sublime could come out of this.

I wouldn't worry about him having any Mayte flashbacks either. eek

with ease though? the sonic sounds that sweetback create arent that easy.....and sade's lyrics....prince isnt anywhere near her lyrical genius..

however, sade could really benefit from prince's mastery of creating catchy and sharp melodies.....sade has sorta gotten away from that..try to hum a song from the last album? cant, huh?

i think if all of em (not just sade adu..but the whole band) were to work with prince, all parties would walk away with valuable lessons..the more i think of this the more i wanna see it happen...they creatively really are equals IMHO...

I will have to respectfully disagree with your opinion there. I think they are both extremely talented lyricists, just in different ways. Prince writes stronger lyrics than Sade in certain genres and she writes stronger in others, but in the end they are both damn good. I think Prince's lyricism has more versatility but that doesn't mean that I don't think they are miles apart. Just genius in different ways.

As lyricists I think Sade often appears more profound and subtle than P because she probably takes her time writing moreso than he does. If she put out songs at the same rate Prince does I'm sure the quality would be more comparable.

I still give P the edge for going places with lyrics where no one has gone before. I mean, this guy consistently comes up with stuff and expresses it in ways that would never occur to anybody else. lol

As bands go, Sade's is as smooth as warm syrup and just as sweet. I swear, If ya haven't been to a Sade show PLEASE GO!!! These guys freakin' COOK!

Prince's various bands have more of an edge to them. These folks JAM, Y'all.

There is a difference between JAMMIN' and COOKIN'

I think she would have a profound effect on him and he could teach her many things. The two of them together could really produce something interesting.
Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

i should have qualified that..actually i think i did in my previous post on this thread...prince "used to be" an awesome lyricist..IMHO...thats why i think he would benefit from kicking it with Ms. Adu..it might jazz him up to start creating those beautiful stories he used to in the past...the way Ms. Badu still does...

well, when she releases albums..but in her defense...she did just release one.. confused

biggrin

i do agree they are geniuses on their own right..but i also see how prince feels he no longer has competition..yet he does....a healthy writing competition between prince and sade could create some wonderful fireworks..from both.

A pleasant display of musical fireworks which would turn the music industry on its ear is more like it. Being that I come from a musical background, I would vision their collaboration as a win win situation.

I can understand what you saying Sos. It still remains to be seen how P would respond.

I've been longing for this collaboration for quite some time. And you're right - that band is so damn tight!! I remember hearing them do a damn-near 15-minute version of Turn My Back on You.....it was mind-numbing!
