How did Missy Elliot diss Prince?

I honestly don't know but I heard that his line about her on the Musicology CD was in response to something she said about him.

"...the same diet Missy went on, U know she eat 2 much."

There was a line in a song a couple of years back where she said something along the lines of 'Even Prince couldn't get me to change my name', not a diss as such, and in interview I've only heard her compliment the man.

yeah i've always took that line as a joke as missy went on and on about dieting recently so i think prince was just poking fun gently at her. i'm sure they've met by now.

Prince couldn't get me change my name papa
Kunta Kinte a slave again, no sir
Picture black sayin', "Oh, yes a master"

I think those lyrics are pretty witty and cool, involving prince, slave(ry) and masters. nod

well, i have 2 say, i never thought of it like that. pretty insightful depiction. as far as prince puttin her on the same diet missy went on,i think, and this is just an opinion not a fact, he was congratulating missy on getting fit so she would be alive much longer.

peace,
j

It should actually be read in context...

"I'm gonna put her on the same diet Missy went on, U know she eat 2 much"

both the "her" and the "she" refer to the girl in Prince's song NOT Missy Elliot (the middle bit about the diet is the Missy reference). Not a response to a diss.
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I think the diss was the Prince impersonator she had in her video

I don't think it's a diss to Missy at all. The "she" in U know she eat 2 much 2night is referring to the girl P is talking about and references Missy's diet (as an effective one).

It's an exchange of props. I wish more rappers would talk about P.

I mean if you look at the lyric, it's pretty dope.

Kunta Kinte a slave again, no sir

I'm not sure if P read it that way, but if he did, I know why he gave her a shout.

Shows just how attentive P is to what's going on. I thought it was neat to hear them both prop one another.

I believe Missy just recently gave props to P again recently in an interview.
