"Thunder" Who else loves this song? It's got a great, booming rock/soul vibe. It's very catchy. That chorus is ace. Yeah, it's a tad melodramatic and is found on a mostly poppy, disposable album (okay, in my opinion), but it rocks!

![]() I've loved it from moment 1. It stays good too. Plus it's got that oriental vibe to it that he used sometimes since the early 90's and I love it whenever he does that. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I'm not wild about Thunder, it drips corny and you could bounce stones off the production - BUT! The Thunder Ballet he wrote for Billboards has an additonal five minUtes of ambient electronia that sounds like Brian Wilson sucking Aphex Twin's genitals, on a tiny wee spaceship, inside God's veins. It's probably my favourite pieces of composition ever, and I have equisite taste.

I love this song to death, unequivocally. The deliciously excessive production, the unabashed drama, the operatic vibe, the transcendent vocals. Fuckin' yum. You can't fuck with Prince when he's feeling Lovesexy, y'all. And that's the spirit of this song. I was thirteen when this album came out, and I damn near wore out my D&P cassette tape rewinding this track. ![]() The Normal Whores Club

I just last year "found" the extended 10+ minute version. I believe it is from the "Billboards" ballet show.

I too love the extended 'ballet' version. The middle 'ambient classical' part is gorgeous, tho I don't think it really works in the middle of the song. He should have maybe put it at the end and had the song melt away into the rain, as if the 'Thunder' had passed, and all that was left was beautiful rain...
A wonderful, over-the-top track. Only Prince could/ would have done this. Virtuosic, really.

When I first heard this, I had a bad feeling about the rest of the album. I was right...

I love Thunder. It was a great way to start D&P. And the way his voice is in the song, it's just haunting. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that
