The musicianship is wonderful to these songs, but this doesn't always mean it's going to be listened to on every occation because you're most likely spacing out.
Eliminate the spacing out by eliminating time length. | |

In my opinion.... Temptation Sometimes It Snows In April Thunder and *sometimes* Purple Rain are too long. It doesn't mean I don't like them, just throughout these songs I find myself spacing out and not really listening to it. I like them though.

Clooren Bacon Skin definitely! I do wish that Prince would release a CD of all the 80s extended versions...i.e. Alexa De Paris, Love or Money, I Wish U Heaven, Mountains, America, Paisley Park and etc. |

You're right! We must assume that all the songs are supposed to be exactly as long as they are. After all, he wrote them! The only opinion we're entitled to is really whether we like it or not. Prince doesn't make music to please you and me - he makes music to express himself! We have to accept that. | |

Some of you are clearly getting worked up because we're admitting that some of Prince's songs are too long for our own particular taste.
For my part, it doesn't mean I hate the songs at all (hopefully you didn't think that), we're all just being honest here. I would never tell Prince himself that he should make a song shorter for me! And that's not what we're (or at least I'm) saying. Each song of his songs of his that I think is long are brilliant nonetheless, but there's nothing wrong with sharing opinions. and I think it's WRONG to tell someone else they're WRONG about they're own opinion.
