It's absolutely TRAGIC that ya'll think Prince is actually sayin' the word "pee" in the song We Can Funk. C'mon people, CATCH A CLUE! He wrote it with George Clinton, who fronts the band Parliament, which is where the "P" (NOT PEE) reference comes in. "I'd gladly P in anybody's cup. Good God Almighty, ya'll are a bunch of Younts!

falloff

Yeah, exactly. That doesn't even make any sense.

It's so obvious that it's in reference to giving a urine sample.
The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

"You still wanna take me to prison...just because I won't trade humanity for patriotism."

I hate when that happens so much.
Like when I remember first hearing We Can Funk.
The song's funky and I'm loving it, when all of a sudden I hear...
"I'll gladly pee in anybody's cup""
And just like that I'm taken out of the song.

The worst lyric is in "The Sun , the Moon, and Stars":

Do U like I do
Puck, puck, puck, puck, come on, come on
It's late and I'm walkin' outta what 2 say
The kind of lucky rhyme make a chippy want 2 say
Whisper in the belly 2 me rock and rosé
Do U like I do come on and dance the night away
It's late but before they get 2 close the door
U and me we got 2 get out on the floor
Come on let the tide ride in and out the shore
I want 2 love U once again-a, then some more
Lay your head back I got my hand behind your head (Please, please, please)
Like U do the limbo 'cept it's on the bouncy bed (Okay, bounce, bounce)
Bouncing on the summer spring and when U start 2 fall
U'll come like the cold winter do in Montreal (Come on baby, the sun, the moon and stars)

The song was PERFECT until that series of gibberish. Was he attempting to rap or do reggae?
"Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

My problem with it is not so much the words/meaning as it is how the rhymes sound kind of forced.

And actually, he's saying that the comparison to the moon would give one pause, not that looking at her gives one pause. So, in other words, people might not be able to decide right away whether she or the moon is more flawless. I know my girl's got way less pockmarks than the moon & her tones are far more even razz

I stand corrected. I've been hearing that wrong all this time?!?! it's not the first time someone misheard/misquoted a Prince lyric. ("Count yor blessings" = "Controversy") Yes, I've known people to sing it that way.LOL

Actually it occurred to me that what you said was right, too. The second time he mentions pause he says "because your beauty it gives one pause, it slows me down" which means just what you interpreted it to mean.

I feel you on that, perhaps if he'd made TRC his N.E.W.S., I could have enjoyed it more.
