Then, based on that, every black American is mixed

Who told you that his father was half Italian?

Who told you his mother was mixed?

nod
To me, Prince's parents both look black. His mom could be a sister of Della Reese... no one thinks Della Reese is anything but black. His mom looks similar to an older version of the actor in Superfly... what is his name??
No one ever said that actor was anything but black.

Prince looks a lot like Morris Day, and a lot like Andre Cymone.
No one ever said that Morris or Andre looked like anything other than black.

I don't get it....

In order for Prince to be half and half one of his PARENTS would have to be another race.

There is an interview on HQ from Ebony Mag (1984) where John L. Nelson, Prince's FATHER states that both he and Mattie are Black. He further stated that Prince has a white GREAT-GREAT GRANDPARENT on his side and a Native American GREAT-GREAT GRANDPARENT on his mothers side.

So, like most of us African Americans, Prince has a couple drops of other races in his blood.

I think his own father should know so I'll take his word for it.

Well in that case I am "half white" also.
My mother's great grandmother was a "plantation child". My father's grandmother was a full blooded Indian, chewed snuffed and could sit on her long gray rope like braids.
And for the record, I look as black as Oprah, Phylicia Rashaad, Aaliyah, Brandy
etc.

a bunch of stuff about prince's gender behaviour that didn't fit nicely into the quotes like it should

All very good points.

I have no idea what gender Prince prefers, nor does it make a difference to me. (Though I admit, like any other celeb I have an interest in, it would be interesting to hear more juicy details, but I digress.)

It would be good in arguments like these, for people on both sides to keep in mind that if a 300 lb. hairy, flannel wearing trucker can be gay, then it's just as likely that a certain petite, noticably feminine musician could be too. It's not a matter of appearance, or even body language, as some have tried to suggest. It's a matter of "does he, or does he not, fuck men instead of/as well as women?" Which is something that only Prince and his sex partners will likely ever know.

The rumour published in the UK Tabloids -- some chav came forward, and she was a true chav from the 80s to say Prince covered her in honey, licked her out and bonked her good and proper.

Yeah right rolleyes

Please re-read my post more carefully. You cannot be bi-racial unless you have one of your actual parents of another race, not a great or great-great grandparent.

Bi-racial = half and half
Quadroon = 1/4 or a grandparent of another race.
Octaroon = 1/8 or a great-grandparent of another race.

I have an English great, great grandfather on one side and a Native American great, great-grandmother on the other. That makes me.....black.

Just like you and Prince. biggrin

Well I look white on the outside but I'm sure that I'm black on the inside. And I have a hard time making people recognize this fact: that I feel just like a black person even though I look like I'm white.

I had always believed that Prince's father was black and his mother was white until probably around 2000 or 2001 because Prince led people to believe this in the early days of his career. When I got the internet and saw pictures of both his mother and father and his family, as well, it was very obvious to me that Prince is black and I had absolutely no problem accepting it.

Just about everyone on this site has seen pictures of both Prince's parents because they have been posted numerous times on this very site. Now people are trying to go back further than his parents to his grandparents and great grandparents. They are trying to grasp any straw to not accept that Prince is black. Well, if you dig far enough back in any of our pasts, you will find different races.

The fact that people refuse to accept that Prince is black just goes to show that racism is still alive and well. Some people still see being black as the worst thing you could be and would rather see Prince be a green Martian than a black human being. It's rediculous.

Nope, I don't need to re-read your post. I got your message crystal clear. I guess my sarcasm didn't transfer over the 'net.
My daughter is bi-racial. I know the difference. Likewise I also know that both of Prince's parents are black. My comment was basically stating that if P is mixed because his great great grandmother is another race... then I guess that makes me mixed also. (and I am NOT mixed!) lol

if you want to post some quasi-intellectual thesis on why everything prince has created is genius, then go right ahead...but your not....yet you crap on her...

:

falloff Thank you! Why is it that your post are looked at as "nutty" or "lacking substance" if you are not kissing Prince's ass, analyzing a song in a ten paragraph essay or constantly keeping it about "the music" Blah blah blah! I LOVE Prince's music too and enjoy reading the more analytical posts about his music. I really enjoy them actually. But sometimes it is fun to just make a silly "What if.." post for shits and giggles!

But seriously I find Prince the sexiest man on the planet! That is what I wanna talk about. I can start posts about fantasing about ripping his clothes off and grabing his dick if I want to! That is the kinda stuff I am interested in! That is just the kinda person I am, I'm very sexual and I relate to men sexualy so ofcourse I am gonna wanna express it! My gawd do you know how many Prince erotica short stories I have written over the years? Just be thankful I haven't posted those!

But seriously thanks for saying what no one eles had the guts to say sosgemini!

Really though, looking at the stereotype created by society that gay men dress in womens clothes, put on make-up and bitch in a high pitched voice is something we as Prince fans should know better. The things he did, he did for his performances which gave them sensuality and energy and had women swooning. It's like "yeah im gonna break the rules and be a well-groomed hetero and sing in a high pitched voice cause the ladies love it, i can show my talent and i don't really give a fuck what anyone else says". You really can't imagine Prince sitting there bitching in his high pitched voice with Mani's dress on, in interviews he was chilled talking in his normal voice, a complete pimp. Would he have talked about God so much if he was gay? Would he have become a JW if he was gay? And the biggest giveaway to me is, if he really was gay he'd do everything to look anything but that, and try and be really manly as he obviously is sick and tired of that rumour. It's obvious he was just secure with his masculinity.

Prince: gay, straight, bi? I don't care one bit,

U spend a lot of time on a subject u "dont care one bit" about.rolleyes Link:http://www.prince.org/msg/7/139484

but people who rabidly defend his assumed heterosexuality are just plain annoying.

U r annoying because u clearly think Prince is anything but straight but u will not admit it. lol

btw -those that think it's possible he's gay or bi aren't basing that opinion on the fact that he wears women's clothes and makeup. If they were, you'd see a whole lot more people questioning Dennis Rodman's sexuality....

Dennis Rodman has not been compared to Michael Jackson and Michael's questioned sexuality like Prince has for decades.

Also Dennis Rodman is not skinny, short and effeminate looking like Prince. Dennis Rodman only looks effeminate if he is in full drag, wearings dresses.
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

P can't help being short and being short does't make someone look effeminate....the make up, the gestures etc... that's another story! I like what he's done. The man's 5'2/5'3 and he's created a look that looks good on him and him only. It fits his frame & body! He's GORGEOUS!! I'd hit ~Tina

Prince is black.

But the thing is, as you stated, he himself created this confusion early on regarding race/gender indentification. I guess he wanted to appeal to the widest audience possible.

It's mostly his own fault if he can't live it down now.

But then again, he's done a lot of things that people will never let him live down. lol lol lol

rolleyes We've been over this before. No, I don't know or care what he is, but yes, I do find people who've taken it upon themselves to "defend" his heterosexuality annoying.

Unless you are Prince, you don't know what gender he prefers anymore than the rest of us do, nor should you care. I keep on about the subject in the vain hope of trying to knock some sense into people's heads -you can't assume you know anything about anyone but yourself, especially not something as personal as sexual preference.

Really what are we doing on this site then? I care to know. We talk about Prince all the time whats wrong with discussing his sexuality? Im not assusimng i know but im sharing my thoughts. And yes you can look like anything and still be thought of as gay but i dont think you could say that for society or else every male entertainer's sexuality would have come under such scrutiny as Prince's did. So obviously its do with his appearance. And im stating my thoughts in his defence from all the tabloids and respecting the man when he says he's not gay. Cause thinking about it logically if he was in denial he really wouldnt have dressed like that, were over symplifying everything and just assusiming he's in denial can't we respect the man's words? And i do defend his heterosexuality, like many fans im sure do against the huge amount of people who are like "Oh Prince, isnt he gay?" without even knowing his music.

I understand your point, but I still think it's pointless to defend something that only Prince himself can really know for sure. There's nothing wrong with discussing his sexuality, but insisting you know for sure what he is based on his public image and public behaviour really doesn't make much sense considering that's all any of it is -an image. For all we know, Prince could be Joe Conservative in real life, and the rebelliousness and wildness he advertised for years could have just been an act.

Sexuality and gender identity are complicated things for a lot of people. There's more flavours than I think anyone could imagine, but unfortunately most people seem only able to think of it in black and white terms -a person can be a man OR a woman, gay OR straight -with no room for grey area. And regardless of whatever his true identity may be, Prince has deliberately left a lot of "flex room" for fans and non-fans alike to speculate. All part of his charm. thumbs up!
