When?Where Was It When Prince Was Booed with the Rolling Stones??

I know it happened in the early 80's (80 or 81?) when he opened for the Rolling Stones.

Can anyone identify the show and exactly when that was and any more details???
The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Remember there is only one destination and that place is U
All of it. Everything. Is U.

I'm not sure, but did Prince copy Mick's dancing, or did Mick copy Prince. That's what I want to know.

I think it was 1981, I read he was booed off stage after just playing three songs (i think the audience werent prepared for a black singer in slip and stockings, playing a hybrid of black and white music and singing in a falsettto-voice)

After that concert, Prince immediately flew back to Minneapolis, but Andre Cymone did convince him to come back for the second support-performance the day after that first 'disaster', but during that second show, Prince was booed off the stage even quicker..

The second concert was two days later, and Andre had left the group by then, with Mark on bass for the shows.

I thought it was Dez that convinced him to come back.

Even thinking about this event makes me almost embarrassed to be a Stones fan. Believe me - if I had been there it would have been my dream double-bill - I would NOT have been booing. Seeing Prince open for the Stones would have been the ultimate for me.
Keith Richards said that these humiliating things happened to the Stones in the early days and that they 'steel you' and 'toughen you up' but it still sounds like a nightmare. There may have been opening acts I didn't care for - but I would never be that mean. When John Mellencamp first started out someone threw a beer bottle, it hit him in the side of the head and knocked him out onstage and split his head open. What are people thinking???

Prince came out on stage at Dodger Stadium wearing the black stockings, panties, and his heels...Chicken legs were thrown at him, and yes he was booed off stage. It was during the 81 tour. It shows how raw he was, and how far he's come.

Allegedly, a sound clip of "the booing" is heard on "Pop Life"... y'know... the chaotic crowd sound interjected near the end of the song...

I didn't know this until years after I bought the album.

Peace.

It's a library sample of crowd noise.- and a myth that it is the 1981 concert used on 'Pop Life'.
