Prince and "New Jack Swing"

I was searching the web and I found this pretty good post on another message board about Prince and the "New Jack Swing" of the mid-80's until the early-90's.

Naw, none of those songs really resemble New Jack Swing....New Jack Swing was basically a doubled-up bass kick and some rapid/often snare drum work.

The ONLY New Jack Swing cut Prince ever did - "Don't Say You Love Me"....that was an OBVIOUS attempt at doing New Jack Swing. Those other songs dude mentioned in his post just have elements similiar to New Jack Swing, that's about it. I hardly doubt he was trying to go that route.

The only 'new jack swing' track of Prince, for me at least, was 'New Power Generation' from Graffiti Bridge, Prince copying My pregotative from Bobby Brown, which was a new-jack swing version of the Minneapolis sound of course.
