CONTROVERSY MAGAZINE

Whatever happned to the English lady that ran this magazinge...I remember you could call a phone number and she would have pre-recorded Price updates...and how distraught she sounded when P's legal team forced her to close the magazine down....If I'm not mistaken P's people asked her to request subscribers to list the 5 songs they wanted him to play on the Act II Tour in the early 90's..and he indeed played them...what caused him to turn on her ????paranoia ? Egomania ? Greed ?

I think her name was Eileen Murton?

Another lady connected to this magazine was Linda Everett. She also had a bitter falling-out with Prince in the early 90s,and started selling all of her Prince stuff (and boy did she have ALOT!) lol

I was also a early member of controversy and met Eileen on numerous occassions. Not sure what she's doing now

I think Prince's people wanted the names and addresses 2 all those that subscribed 2 the magazine and she didn't want 2 give up the list so they forced her 2 shut down. I also think that they may have wanted a part of the magazine as well.

The last part is correct.

Also i think Prince decided he wanted total control of the magazine and Eilien got into a row over it with him, which is fair enough on her part!. In the end i think the whole thing just blew up and hence no more magazine!

Eileen was great. She did so much for the Prince community at the time, not just with the magazine, but with her phone updates and getting members priority tickets for all the gigs.

I think the last straw came when Prince's people got some volunteers from Controversy to hand out flyers at the start of the Wembley Stadium gig and were supposed to be taken into the pit at the front of the stage as a thank you. But Prince's people just left them in the lurch. Eileen was fuming that the fans had been taken advantage of so she made a tearful message on the phone a couple of days later saying she was shutting Controversy down. She was really crapped on badly, if not by Prince, but by his staff.

Last I heard she was running a travel company.
