Exodus

Anyone up for a discussion on NPG's second album, Exodus? This, to me is the best of the three albums, and is one of my favorite "Prince" albums period. I know, I know, he can't be named, but he's all over the album, and it's just a Prince album.

Thoughts, ppl?

It's cool, but I find it a little long winded. Tracks like Big Fun, Return Of The Bump Squad, The Exodus Has Begun and all the segues seem to go on forever without really going anywhere. I'm also not a fan of Cherry Cherry. Other than that, I love Hallucination Rain!

I love Exodus. It's the best executed of the NPG albums, with the least amount of filler. It even had proper singles with excellent remixes and b-sides. Count The Days, Cherry Cherry, The Good Life and the fantastic Return Of The Bumpsquad are stand-outs. I could do without the segues, though - never been a big fan of these "in-jokes" that hip-hop records have to have between every damn song.

1 N.P.G. Operator Intro
2 Get Wild
3 Segue
4 DJ Gets Jumped
5 New Power Soul
6 DJ Seduces Sonny
7 Segue
8 Count The Days
9 The Good Life
10 Cherry, Cherry
11 Segue
12 Return Of The Bump Squad
13 Mashed Potato Girl Intro
14 Segue
15 Big Fun
16 New Power Day
17 Segue
18 Hallucination Rain
19 NPG Bum Rush The Ship
20 The Exodus Has Begun
21 Outro

The first time I heard Exodus, I was blown away, I am a P-Funk Soldier from back in the day, so when I heard it, it was true P-Funk so return of the Bumpsquad and Exodus was George Clinton, I don't care what anyone say.(even Prince) and the stories going on at the same time had me rolling on the floor, I enjoyed everyone of them songs. its got 5 stars from me.
How you gonna get my back when you fronting.

Aside from the fact that there are way too many segues (I mean, there are more
segues than songs for god's sake!), it's a very solid album. I like it a lot,
it's easily the best of the 3 'NPG' albums.

One of my fave Prince recordings. The segue w/him getting mugged and fighting Jenelle cracks me up.I let ppl hear that and they don't believe it's Prince.Pure comedy.
