N.E.W.S.

Does anyone know anything about the album "N.E.W.S." ? I want to know who played what and how much was improv.

John Blackwell: drums
Renato Neto: keys
Rhonda Smith: bass
Eric Leeds: sax
Prince: guitars, keys, percussion etc.

The album is just an extension of what the band was doing at the One Nite Alone tour soundchecks (long improvised jams). I think after recording a heap of improvised jams, Prince then edited/moulded them into the four 14min tracks and added overdubs to create themes and liking passages etc.

Excellent! thank you. I figured that was how he made it because it sounded improvised in some aspects , but with his usual studio "tasties" put into it, which would have to have come later. Thanx again

The official line:

Personnel: Prince (guitar, Fender Rhodes piano, keyboards, percussion); Eric Leeds (tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone); Renato Neto (piano, synthesizer); Rhonda Smith (acoustic & electric basses); John Blackwell (drums). Recorded at Paisley Park Studios, Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 6, 2003.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.
