Place a line.

Hi,
Please place a line between two particular albums in Prince's back catalogue. Then give your reason for this divide. For example, i would place a line between SOTT and Lovesexy because after the SOTT tour, i felt less energy and excitment in his production and songwriting.

This is not entirely negative, i still love his work post SOTT. Although, i feel that a distinction between periods can be made.

Where do ypu place your line and for what reasons?

Pemember it can be positive too! i.e he began working with a particular group on a certain album etc....
You'll never know a girl called Nikki and you'll never find Erotic City

For me my line would be between Lovesexy and Batman. For me from For You to Lovesexy Prince really did no wrong and kept raising the bar and he released what naturally flowed from him. Once the Batman album hit he started TRYING too hard to be what was popular at the time instead of staying light years ahead of everyone else by just being PRINCE.

I agree !
Seems he became more of focused on his commercial succes then on his creativity.
I'd also place a line with the beginning of the NPGMC !!
For it was his first "succesfull" freedom project that eventuly brought him where he's today
