Fill in the blank..."if Prince would of stayed with Warner Bros he would of...."

Kept in the music spotlight, never changed his name, and would of been out a few more sucessful commercial albums...

Because of market demographics, they wouldn't have the musicology tour because his way older than twenty-one. I thing they push him aside looking for the next Usher. But on the other hand, he could of made some videos that actually get played.

never released The Rainbow children, NEWS, and ONA in their current encarnations--which would be doing us all a favor.

Speak for yourself. He would have been dropped from the label and I doubt we would have had the great performances from him over the last few years.

Co-sign. WB is not relevant in the industry. So who care.

He would have been a freaking distant memory by now, because WB would have swept him off to the side in the mid 90's and left him there to rott. By the time the RRHOF happened this year, no one not even us die-hard fans would have cared!

The only unanswered question is ..

In 93 when he signed the deal did he plan this whole thing out ? I think he knew
what he was going to do : F with WB right from the start, with the "retirement" from studio recording etc.

... probably made more sappy ballads like Diamonds & Pearls, TMBGITW etc just to get a hit... and would've rapidly become more and more MOR and dull as the years passed.

A world without The Truth, The Rainbow Children, a lot of the great stuff on Emancipation is a world I don't wanna be in!

He probably would have been more involved in the rerelease of Purple Rain (and maybe even a remastered album). WB might have re-released all of his albums with extra stuff.

He probably wouldn't have been able to release TRC on WB but might have done it on a private label. Maybe with his clout he could have negotiated a better WB plan for releasing his other stuff outside of WB.

but then again maybe not.

Overall, he probably would have done what he wanted, but it seems that this spiritual growth he feels he has gotten from breaking away would not have happened.

I can tell you one thing, Emancipation wouldn't have come out! lol
