Sign is incredible.
I mean Play in the Sunshine, Forever in My Life, Starfish and Coffee, Strange Relationship, I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man, The Cross. This is the stuff of mastery. But Alas, I must ask could I have lived without Little Red Corvette, DMSR, Let's Pretend We're Married, the futuristic 1999 which so captures the desperate fearful giddiness of waiting for Armageddon, International Lover, Lady Cab Driver, Free? I think not. These songs might not have the smooth perfection of Sign, but they are raw and ecletic. I love them. I VOTE SIGN OF THE TIMES OFF!! ![]()

If Prince had only released the first three songs of SOTT as an EP they would have still been the greatest EP ever!!!!
just those three songs alone represent genius in all its forms.

I hate to be a party poop (yes, I did just finish watching Under the Cherry Moon) and pee all over this SOTT love parade (yes, I did just finish watching Under the Cherry Moon), but am I the ONLY 1 who always thought, still thinks, and prolly always will think that SOTT is overrated?!? It woulda made a GREAT single slab o' vinyl. There ain't enough there to make a great double. 2 much filler. Anyone with me?

Sign O' The Times has to go. There's a lot of filler on that album and I skip a few of the songs on every listen.
I can't help feeling that 1999 is currently popular because of the present ongoing 80s revival, but who cares? It's a great album! ![]()
