If Prince was a tall, burly man..... his overt sexuality would be just plain SCARY. I don't think America is ready for a BIG BLACK MAN talking about lions in his pocket ready to roar or anything remotely similar. (Rick James tried it and it was just plain gross. Plus, he was ugly, which didn't help.)

Prince's slight build and gentle nature has allowed him to be as free with his sexuality as he wants to be. I know he used to feel bad about being short but he shouldn't because he could have never gotten away with it as a big dude. absolutely true and absolutely brilliant. everytime somebody wanna get up and criticize the lil' man's size i always say you rather have a 6'3" prince??! hell naw! This is probably one of the most interesting issues regarding the man. Speak, you window shopping manequins. That was great. I loved what you said, especially because BASTARDS is my favorite expletive. Thanks.

Well, to me Prince does look tall and burly. So it's all relative!

IfI were to have had a personal relationship with the man, I'd have preferred him taller.Since I never have to worry about that though, I think the fact that he is smaller in stature has helped him alot. The general public would have been WAY FREAKED if a large person expressed himself the way P does. That would have never been accepted. People would have felt way to threatened. So let's be grateful that he's a hot lil man!!!!

Maybe if he did look like that, we wouldn't have got some of the more psychologically interesting songs that we did from him.

P would look weird tall and muscular. I like him just the way he is, small, compact, and sexy. he can fit in all the tight spots..... "Who gonna check me boo?" Boriqua1130 said: It's never too late, to be "Experienced"

He would look very funny in those high heeled boots!

ENUF SAID! I TOO WOULD HAVE PREFERRED P TO BE TALLER, BUT THEN HE PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE THE P THAT WE ALL LOVE. HE IS THE ONLY SHORT MAN THAT I HAVE EVER WANTED (WANT ?Cause me and u could have been a work of art

OK, I'm gonna open a can of worms here, but I have, in the past, seen people express the opinion that Prince's musical short-comings since the mid-80s were, at part, a result of his own insecurities due to his phsyical size and colour in relation to a more stereotypical African-American male image - hence the surrounding of more and more men of that appearance - Wally/Greg, then the Game Boyz.

Just putting out there are theory that has already been expressed. What do you mean by musical short comings?

Just putting out there are theory that has already been expressed. What do you mean by musical short comings? Well as the theory goes - The break up of the Revolution, then the acceptance of rap with GB and D&P. BTW, I don't wanna see this thread closed, so I choose my words carefully, I hope all that reply do the same (although I foresee those who contest the theory more vehemently may do otherwise in order to close the subject). [Edited 10/13/04 15:58pm] I know you were only reiterating a theory previously asserted, but I think that's crap. I could believe it if someone told me that his insecurities sorrounding his height led him to become fixated on sexual energy that he knew he could deliver, regardless of size. But I never saw any musical shortcomings..just journeys and explorations.

That’s way 2 deep 2 answer at the moment. I can’t even fathom that shit. P is diffidently blessed with the looks, body and size that can get buy with just about anything on and off stage. Fleshofmyflesh this is a great thread u have going. U really got me thinking on this one.

It definitely adds to his appeal. Adds to his exoticism. Him being small, even though we can't always see how small he is, we know he is tiny. Makes him more childlike and feminine. I've always assumed that women were very turned on by the little guy and his stature would give them a feeling of physical superiority and non-threat. One of Prince's contributions to the culture is turning the sex roles inside out. He doesn't get much credit for it though. Look at male models 25 years ago and look at them today, prince was a part of the feminization of men. Crazy Injun' Music here:

If Prince was tall and burly, I don't think he would be the person that he is today. I think the fact that he is extremely short for a man, made him an overachiever, which is why he is the talented musician he is today. He had to overcompsensate to make up for what he was lacking in the height department. Prince short stature was a blessing in disguise. I would not have him any other way..

I've always thought the same thing. His personality and demeanor would not work if he were a big man but, I wouldn't mind if he were just a few inches taller...just because.
