My profile says 'enthusiast' but I'm a bigger fan than that, actually. Prince and his music have been in my life for years and years now. This love affair began when I saw the "Kiss" video a little over a decade ago. That and Sheila E.'s "A Love Bizarre" & "Sister Fate" videos.

I was instantly transfixed and hooked. (Despite the fact that I was a wee young thing then, I KNEW good music when I heard it.)

Big fan, but I also love & appreciate others. Having said that, however, Prince is Prince. Cannot really compare him to Michael Jackson, George Michael, Madonna or anyone else you can think of...he's one of a kind.

And seeing as these days his fan base is almost an elite or underground-type group, there's a certain attraction to it.

I mean isn't it FUNKY to be in this group or WHAT?!!!!

I have been a fam since Sexy Dancer and just fell in love with him and his music.
I had all the vinyl of his music but they were stolen. I have most of his
CD's still looking for ones that I can't find. Have been 2 every concert since
87 with my son who was 3 at the the time and still going strong.

I have been around 4 25 yrs. Very proud of Prince. Always have .

Then I started coming here on a regular basis, & even registered, so I could start posting. I was a casual fan from 78 until around 82-83, then I became hardcore, like right after 1999, and right before PR. Once I heard "Doves", I was a goner. I'm not OBSSESSED(sp?) though. I initially, (and still do, at times) found orgers 2 B 2 obnoxious, and fanatical 4 me, which has shown me that though I might love him, I'm not as obssessed w/ him as I was during the PR hysteria, and since I have seen his good and bad phases over the years, I have CHOSEN 2 continue 2 love him unconditionally, warts an'all. So, I'm not like a newbie, who thinks the man can do no wrong, 'cuz frankly the Brothah has done A LOT of wrong 2 folk over the years, particularly 2 the Black community, from which he comes, which resulted in him losing his Black fan base 4 awhile (this has already been discussed in another thread, so I won't rehash it all here). All-and-all though, I think that his good outweighs his bad, and as one of his 'nephews' Lenny Kravitz said, "We all fall short of the Glory". So I'm not really one 2 stand in judgement of him 4 his flaws, foibles, and mishaps.

i have been a fan since purple rain, but got every album from for u 2 musicology!.prince has permeated my intelect and my skin like no other ! in university i was called batman cos of prince, the movie and the soundtrack.
i have collected every newspaper article,clippings, photos and every prince related memorabilia i come across.believe me, prince once described as"that imp of a perverse"i shall 4ever dig!

I would consider myself to be a huge fan, but not quite obsessive. I have all his official releases (cd, vhs, dvd), many bootlegs, lots of stuff on tape from tv shows. I have many magazines and a couple of t-shirts and a few other souvenirs.

I've never been a fan of all his religious babble and I don't need to know what the man had for breakfest or who he sleeps with (people with real minds will peep this out ) but I am very interested in his music and I also hope he's happy in his personal life. As long as he keeps making music, I'll be satisfied.

For my age & the fact that I just learned about him this year I am a huge Prince fan. I haven't spent a dime on anything that didn't relate to Prince from the day I started liken' him. & when I'm older I plan on getting a tattoo of his symbal on my ankle or my lower back.

I can say I'm a pretty big fan. The first song I heard by him, believe it or not was STILL WAITING. I was obsessesed by that song. I found out who he was. I went back and bought the first album as well. The rest is history. I have tons of unreleased songs. Tons of video, concerts. I have most of the Prince related artist stuff. In high school I bought every possible button, poster whatever of his. I couldn't go to any of his first concerts because of my age, I was sooooo pissed. I waited in line over night for Purple Rain Tour, I was old enough finally. I went to Minneapolis and partied at First Avenue. I also went to Paisley Park and took pictures of the outside. (Employees probably thought I was the biggest dork ever) I couldn't find his house though. AWWWW!!! Whenever Prince is touring in California I see him about 3 times on average. I am very critical of him. I think that's a sign of a true fan. I've met Sheila once and got her autograph (she didn't say a word). I spoke to Eric Leeds and got his autograph. I told him I was a Baritone Sax Man. Needless to say, I may not be THE #1 FAN but I'm definately a big fan and will always be. I think we're all kindred. I love Prince the most when it's just him and his guitar or just him and his piano. My dream is to have him sit right in front of me and play and sing Old Friends 4 Sale, the original. Actually it's a toss up, it can also be Sometimes It Snows In April. or.....don't get me started.
