I think it's funny that people always suggest "Adore" for weddings. I know it's a great love song but won't the line "I ain't fucking just for kicks" offend some? big grin

Most don't anylize it that far. Little Red Corvette is played all the time. I doubt anyone really has examined the meaning behind it.

I've never at a wedding where LRC was played. It's kind of an odd song for a dance.

I believe that John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Carolyn Bessette (R.I.P.) played "Adore" and "Forever In My Life" at their wedding.

Yes, "Forever In My Life" was actually the first song played at their wedding.

Maybe it would if that was actually the lyric but since it's not lol

I assume you are kidding, right? As the Prince album taught us what the lyric book says and what the lyric is are often completely different things. It is clearly "I ain't fucking..."

Aside from some Prince fans... most people dont really know what in the hell he says at that point in Adore, nor do they care. Thats why the album cut was able to always get such heavy radio play in my area, and to this day still does. That line is just one of those jarbled mysteries to most peeps like so many other illegible songs and they just sing along and mumble 'somethin somethin' at that point and keep going ..cause the song is too damn good otherwise. It is the epitome of a love song... second to none.

And yes it would be perfect for a wedding song.

also

Diamonds and Pearls (Maybe as the mother/son dance)
God Created Woman
Forever in my life
and
Friend, lover, sister, mother , wife

Would all be good songs too.

I got married last year and went through the same thing.

In the end, I cut back on the P and it was better.

I had various background music before the wedding, which included Alexa De Paris and Love Thy Will be Done.

For the ceremony, I had no Prince. For the signing of the books I had a looped 8 min version of Arboretum.

For the meal I had incidental tracks from Karmasutra, Xpectation and NEWS.

For the first dance with my wife, we had She Gave Her Angels, then followed by Head, the remix. It went down a storm!

Where did you get Head, remix?? Sounds good....

My friends chose "She Loves Me for Me". I also think Call My Name would be a nice one.

IMO 10 Prince songs is WAY too many because the non-Prince fans will get tired of it in a hurry.

I completely agree. But at my wedding, people are gonna hear WAY more than 10 Prince songs, and there's nothing they can do about it. It's MY wedding!!!!!

wink (I wink, but I am serious!)
