I think the prince CD is highly underrated and does not get as much respect as D&P. I liked it a LOT better than D&P. Even though it had a hit with 7, it should be considered one of the best CD's of the 90's

Oh, and also the "Truth" CD. Too bad it was released with Crystal Ball. I sure it would have shined if it was released separately.

Come, definitely. It is my favorite 90's Prince release.

I also really like the Crystal Ball set, which seems to receive mixed responses from fans.

TRULY! I fucking live for this album. Any of you guys have 'Charade'? It was either a fan club album or a bootleg of all stuff that didn't make it to parade, i love 'Little Girl Wendy's Parade', and 'In all my Dreams'. this truly is my favorite Revolution moment; at the time of it's release they were the best band in the world. i was crushed when he fired them! but i got over that real quick when 'sign' came out.

For You is completely underrated.
Also, Grafitti Bridge is underrated, and I suspect a good number of the people that "detest" it don't even have the soundtrack, and are just going by the movie.

Batman-my introduction to Prince back when it came out. This has some of my all-time favorite music he's ever done! Electric Chair, Vicki Waiting, great stuff. Can't understand someone hating this entirely, granted Arms of Orion isn't my favorite, but could be worse.

For You-I think people hate this mostly because they don't know what to do with it. It doesn't sound like his later work, and it's not that easy to get into for a lot of people I guess. I dig it.

Prince-great album, better than For You, gotta love it for Bambi alone!

The Rainbow Children-minus the deep voice crap, it has some cool tracks in there.

New Power Soul-I like it. Not crazy about all of it, but it's better than him trying to do rap.

The Truth-probably one of my favorites. I love just hearing him and his guitar, it's probably the most live actual album I've heard him release (minus the actual one). Minus the overdubs, the impact is really immediate.

You could name anything pretty much-I'm sure somebody hates something, which is kinda how I like this place. Makes it more interesting.

Hating ATWIAD is just wrong though!

disbelief

Lovesexy too foo, edit.

YUP. And For You is fantastic in my opinion.
I will do today what you won't, so tomorrow I can do what you can't.

I'm sorry. Are you trying to imply that an album containing a hit single is usually a dead giveaway that the album is bad, or what?!? orange

I like it too! I wouldn't say it's his best album or anything, but aesthetically it contains perhaps his most convincing "mainstream" work.

And it's quite an effort both vocally and instrumentally - of course he hadn't really found his style, but if you consider that he was only 19 years old (!) at the time, I would say that this might even be the greatest performance of his career, from a musician's point of view.

Highly competent playing on all instruments, and the title track just blows me away! What a way for a 19-year-old kid to open his debut album!

Any album after Lovesexy gets dissed here.

Any album that was made after that period has to live up to that standard.
