What should be Prince's next album ? (explain in detail)

I think Prince MUST go with something that will sell..sell.. sell!!!! since he has taken over his career.. he has maxed out at 300,000 albums sold.. but usually gets around 150,000

so he must get something "big" or what the public wants, there is 2 options

1) Crystal Ball 2 : which would be great!! The first one made him $11 million his cut!! I would love to hear "Electic Intercourse" on there!

2) Re-Recorded HITS!! 2 disk cd of ALL re-recorded versions of his hits.. I know he has been recording theses for a few years now.. and has hinted to releasing them so HE can own a verison of ALL The Hits!! Who wouldn't want to hear all the great "new" versions (which sound better live.. then on some of the early albums) re recorded!!

* The only problem with .. the hits right now Warner Bros.. just released a "hits" package.. to over fload the market..

hmmmmm??

go with Crystal ball 2!! wink

I would really like to see P come back into the limelight as well, but I think that the best thing that he could do right now is tour like crazy...maybe in the u.s. and then abroad, and then back to the u.s. And then I think he should offer, through his NPGMC website(the part non-members can also access), several recordings (video or cds, or both) of his concerts. Even if it was just in plain cardboard packaging like Pearl Jam did, I think fans would buy the crap out of them. There are many successful artists out there that just tour like crazy and people line up to see them again and again. Take it to the road P, is what I say.

thanks...but you know, that Crystal Ball 2 thing is cool too, I think his fans would go for that, if they was for sure that his mail-order procedure was better this time around. But it seems like alot of people went ahead and bought in to the NPGMC this year, regardless of past mail order problems. Me myself, I've never had much of a problem with it other than the Crystal Ball fiaso. I think P knows that if he's gonna ship stuff anymore, he better do it right, because this is probably getting close to his last chance to prove his "retail" business right!

Here's my 2 cents....

Since Prince hasn't been too succesfull lately in the POP/R&B areas, maybe he should (again) try to establish a whole new fan-base. Remembering the Jazz-fest performance last-year I think there is a lot of potential in this niche, the scene of the festivals. This public is not as image-oriented as others and and is much more interested in musical and artistical capabilities. Prince needn't be afraid of failure.... I sincerely hope that the press release mentioning a stripped down show hints towards this direction, at least TRC is.... And besides, taking this road will still ensure him of 150,000 sales since the people who still buy his cd's now will always continue to do so.... So, my suggestion would be releasing the Jazz-fest or simular performance officcially and market it toward the festival scene. 43 is just too old for the kiddie market, these kids do not relate to a 43 year old...

well put. I am also P is moving in a direction opposite of Top 40. I believe that if he does stuff he believes in, then tryin to do MTV, he will eventually land back on top. With us Fams, the general public(look at all the other older artists doin' their thing and makin' it.) And ultimately, he'll land back on top with himself. Remember the days he said he only listened to himself in the car. Looks like he's doin that again!

He has a few working titles for this year... XENOPHOBIA, WITNESS 4 THE PROSECUTION, MADRID 2 CHICAGO, and ONE NITE ALONE... these all sound great... and I have even heard a few tracks which are supposedly to be released on a couple of these discs... but he should release his own LIVE set... similar to what Pearl Jam did recently... and end up with all four or five discs or whatever in the Top 200... hey - U never know...

this fam looking forward to spending one night alone with Prince on April 2nd wink

Pharaoh4TheMuse

p.s. about Crystal Ball II... hey Prince, RELEASE IT!!! - that's what we might see when WITNESS 4 THE PROSECUTION is released...

I would like a good old Rock record from Prince. Not a C & D type record, but more of the Purple Rain rock record sound, like Let's Go Crazy.
10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 6, 6...

I'd like 2 see Prince come out with a SOTT type album. Something that covers an array of musical styles, a little R&B, a little Jazz, some rock and some electro funk (emphasis on the rock & funk 4 me smile).
I'd like 2 see Prince back in the limelight and all the rage as well. Even though this is Prince's life I kinda compare the situation 2 sports. Sports nuts have their favorite teams that they stick by and root 4 all year long no matter how they do and in the end hope that they win the championship. I'm sure a lot of us feel the same way about Prince. Sure awards don't really matter and he's had his share. But I'd still like him 2 recieve some more. He's made a huge impact and contribution 2 the music industry!

prince should release an updated version of HITS.. but with hand-selected songs of what he thinks are 'hits'. I mean... he has re-done in some way of 'ballad of dorothy parker', 'question of u', and a few others. I would just like to hear his voice nowdays singing earlier stuff. Maybe updated versions of unreleased classics would be nice too. But i don't think i can afford it if he released one for every album he did for wb.

I don't think that Prince should go commercial, I'm perfectly fine with the new road he seems to have taken with TRC and the upcoming (so it seems not too commercial) CD's from NPGMC Year 2. I'm especially looking forward to the Xenophobia album.

But I would love to see Prince work with an underground techno/ breakbeat producer. Not to make techno music, but to make cutting edge electronic funk with vocals, using the techno/ breakbeat idiom. Heavy synth basses, some funky guitar added, to me that sounds like heaven. And maybe that would even be hip enough to make him sell bigtime again, although personally I don't give a shit.

I would also like a live DVD from the One Nite Alone tour, jazzy, funky R&B stuff. Mmmmm, I love that idea!
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

I think Prince is mature now, and I would love to see him focusing more on the songwriting field. I mean, making songs more beautiful harmonically and melodically. He wrote many ´teeny bop´ stuff in the past, for Apollonia, Vanity, etc. Now I would love to see him more ´serious´, writing more consistent songs, like ´How come u dont call me´, ´Venus de Milo´, ´She spoke to me´, ´SOTT´and ´Ballad of DP´. I like some of his party songs, but honestly it would be cool if he spends his huge talent taking more time to arrange and produce songs with more perfectionism. I mean, quality is more important than quantity.
I am glad Prince seems to be changing, let´s wait and see.

I would love to see Crystal Ball II - the first was so damn good! Also, the rumoured new versions of old classics has long been promised - I wonder whether this will come out next year (the 25th year of Prince's recording output - 7 April 2003 sounds good to me)

It's most probably going to be Xenophobia which looks like a Fam based album as it won't draw in the masses (personally, I don't care - I would rather hear an album he wants to create rather than a watered down hits attempt)

I would love to see a DVD from the tour though, good suggestion.... biggrin

Xenophobiac

Some kind of OUTTAKES/CRYSTAL BALL kinda package. As many cd's as possible in one box set.

I totally dig the new stuff but I'll always keep wanting those boots in good quality, no matter what.

So it would B real cool if he'd do another 'vault' type thing.

In the way many threads are discussing right now.

1 disc for each era.

I would LOVE to hear re-recorded, re-arranged versions of some of his older material.
Didn't he play a "guitar-heavy" version of Paisley Park at a couple years ago? And didn't someone mention that the version of Dolphin he played at the Columbus soundcheck was more of a ballad?
This is what I would love to hear. Especially since so many of his older albums are dying to be remastered to a better sound quality.

Like any fan I want to get my hands on top quality vault trax. I loved Crystal Ball (although could live without the remixes). I believe that the rumoured Witness 4 The Prosecution will be an album of vault trax that has mutated out of the idea for Roadhouse Garden - ie when Prince could not get Wendy & Lisa to work with him on it, he decided to do the trax without them (so it is a Prince vault release not a Prince and the Revolution vault release). Just a thought?

I want to see a mature musician Prince (as seems to be happening with this tour and TRC).

This year we might possibly get:
• One Nite Alone (a piano album?)
• Xenophobia (a modern jazz album?)
• Madrid 2 Chicago (a smooth jazz/R&B album?)
• Witness 4 The Prosecution (a vault album)
plus
• The Best of prince (hits from 94-00?)

Don't know about you guys, but that certainly satifies me smile
'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.

I'd love it if he did an album with him playing guitar/piano backed up with a live orchastra. No vocals just all music....it would be a classic. He could even record it for a DVD release...I'd be first in line to buy it.
I wish U love & peace.

I would like Crystall Ball 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 of course
but ONLY if doesn't fuck with the songs, Crystal Ball I , alot of that stuff was rerecorded - instruments added etc...
just creating MORE alternate versions, so it doesn't stop the bootleggers, it just adds to it !!

Don't do it ! Just Release It !

Also has anyone decided if the old tracks from the AHDIO shows were remasters or not ??

Ummm, how can you say he maxed out at any specific number when the album is still being promoted on his so far unfinished tour? You seem to want the POP market to fall in love with him all over again. The POP market shouldn't dictate how he makes his music if it's going to compromise his vision. And what person at almost 44 years of age wants to hobknob with Kid Rock, Britney, Brandy, "boy bands", and the rest of the adolescent watered down pop market? What the public wants rarely has any substance.
This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.
