As much as I like "Musicology". I would never describe it as musically inferior to "Rainbow Children".

i absolutely agree with you. there is no way musicology comes anywhere near the jazz, funk mastery of songs like 1+1+1=3 and The Everlasting Now. I am so tired of people talking mess about the Prince and NPG Albums (The Rainbow Children and NEWS). Both of those are incredible albums and personally, i think this band is musically on par with the purple one and that they should record together more and musicology sort of suffers from not having some of that Rainbow Children feel that vibe that Blackwell and Candy and Rhonda and Renato bring. anyway,t hat's my opinion

Acclaimed everywhere it stops, his tour is one big party fueled by Prince and his energetic nine-piece band. He revisits his greatest hits -- "Little Red Corvette," "Take Me With You," "Kiss" and others -- but he's not touching the songs of his former racier self. He doesn't cuss anymore and won't go near any alcohol.
all can do, is just offer U my love...

I agree 100%. Musicology is just a slightly more polished version of Emancipation, NPS, Rave, High, etc. It's got nothing new musically or sonically to offer, whereas TRC and N.E.W.S. definitely did. When Emancipation came out, it was getting many great reviews from places like USA Today and people on AMP were saying it was a top 5 Prince album. When Rave got released, there was talk of it being the next SOTT. In a year when people are able to step back and listen to it more objectively, they will be trashing it like they do Emancipation, NPS and Rave. No Candy 4 Me

It didn't take many listens to get tired of Musicology. It has thin production values and musically, has absolutely no depth. Hey, music for the masses... Purple Fact #53: Always insecure about his height, Prince performed his first live show using stilts. Bruised, battered and full of ankle slivers, he switched to high-heeled boots for subsequent shows.

No WAY! It's got heart and a certain rawness, that to me make it the best P album in at least a decade. Sooooo much better than Rave, cause it feels like a real expression of something rather than a desperate bid for hits. People keep talking about how it's "music for the masses," but I guarantee you, in a decade, when your expectations have normalized, it'll sound as good and weird as his best stuff.
