I was just wondering if any of you had got stung by Prince cancelling a show?

I've seen a hundred shows all over the UK,Europe and America and have been lucky but there was one time I flew all the way to Miami from England for a couple of shows at Glam Slam, South Beach just before Christmas '97. I phoned up the day before the 1st show was due and was told the shows were on so I jumped on a plane, got to Miami late that night and slept well, happily dreaming of the shows.

The next morning, the morning of the 1st show i walked down to Glam Slam to pick up my tickets and as I walked into the office I saw the guy answer the phone and say "hello Glam Slam. Sorry the shows have been cancelled". I could not believe my ears!! To say I was pissed off would be an understatement!

After sorting out my ticket refund i walked around South Beach in a daze for several hours, feeling pretty pissed and sorry for myself. Until I started chatting to this woman who told me about the stroke she had suffered 12 months previous and how she was coping with it and everything. She wasn't bitter or down and just speaking with her kinda made me realise that my disappointment over a couple of missed shows wasn't such a big deal after all. Anyway I made up my mind to put my disappointment to one side and just enjoy the beautiful weather and the beach, etc.

Speaking of beaches, would u b mine?!

Oh yeah, the reason they gave for the cancellation was "family illness". Funny thing though Prince was spotted partying at some club a day or two later. Funny that.

Well that's my story. Anyone else travelled a long distance for a show only for it to be cancelled at the last minute or paid for hotels, travelling,car hire etc and lost out?

NOPE, never been cancelled on. But I don't travel around to see the guy either. Wish I could...

If you've literally seen "a hundred" shows, you're pretty lucky w/ just the one cancellation...

Yeah Cal, I think we've been lucky in the Bay. I don't remember any cancelled shows (knock on wood).
