I was at a music store and I met this woman who was/is a Prince fan, I mentioned I was a big old Prince nerd, and that I'm so nerdy I'm always on Prince.org. And then she exposed herself as one of my mortal enemies: she said "I don't like that site, I'm a NPGMC member I only frequent there boards...". I knodded politely. She was a older african american woman, so without stereotyping just looking at the evidence I asked my next question:
"What do u think of Larry..?"
She responded: "oh we're all good friends with Larry, we meet about jehovah with some of his family..we want brother Prince to come out...we're new to the new translation"
I thought- so they exist NPGMCJW's...I mean I know they exist-but when its brought on by Prince-wierd.


On the other side of the coin. Anyone who knows me knows-I grew up a lucky kid. My mom is a young mom and was a really young woman when she started getting into Prince (somewhere around Dirty Mind) My mom was a punk rocker (kinda still is). And I grew up with Prince almost like a third parent or friend of the family. I remember my mom dressing up in a teddy with my Aunt ala Vanity/APollonia 6 sitting Purple Circle looking all scandalous. Bringing me back a Purple Rain tour t-shirt (its somewhere around here).

But time passed and my Aunt who was also very much into Prince married my uncle (she wasn't my aunt back then). And "grew out" of Prince (really my uncle felt threatened), my grandma who used to complain to my mom "I think he learned how to swear from Prince.." just cuz when people wouldn't answer my questions I would spout off "answer me motherfucker...". And my cousins called me gay because I tried to go for the Christopher Tracy look. Found out through the family grapevine that they all bought tickets to the Musicology Tour. My aunt, grandma, and cousin are all going. They got nosebleeds. Man, u know Prince is hot when people are responding to him like this....Shame is-they never even told me they were going-they're kind of ashamed I think.

My guess would be that she was dressed up looking like she was going to church on Easter Sunday ... that seems to be very common for the kind of person who is into JW primarily because of Prince.

I don't suppose there are statistics on this kind of thing, but is JW a religion highly populated by Black members?

For whatever it's worth, I've known many JWs (through work, etc.) who were also African-American.

For whatever it's worth, I've never met a JW that was any race besides African-American. Obviously, there are plenty of them around, I'm sure. Just stating what my experience has been, that's all.
