ESQ: Given that the relationship between your mom, Jan Gaye, and your dad was tumultuous, have you tried to steer clear of famous men?

NG: You cannot help who you fall in love with. I've dated famous men.

ESQ: Yeah?

NG: I thought you knew one of 'em. . . . I dated Prince.

ESQ: Do you want to tell me about that?

NG: Not really. I was seventeen, eighteen. It was very strange, a whirlwind of head trips and mind screws. Three years I dated him and didn't know him and really never let him know me, either. But that was a long time ago, and I wish him well. I have nothing but forgiving and warm feelings to send his way.

I've always wondered how Prince pulls off dating multiple women at the same time, and not get busted. If he dated Nona when she was 17 or 18, wouldn't that be around the same time as Carmen and Mayte? I'm surprised he has time for music with that kind of schedule!

I remember when Prince received some AMA of Merit and Gaye presented it to him. He went to kiss her and she almost jumped back as if she were repulsed by him. No hard feelings, eh?

Kelly,I think you read too much into things.The show you mentioned was the 1995 American Music Awards,and if I'm not mistaken,Prince was still dating Nona at that point.Why would she have been "repulsed" by her own boyfriend?

I feel that these women new about one another.If Carmen, Mayte, and Nona and whoever else he was with liked sharing Prince then that is their problem. Ladies never let a man run that game on you. Men loves a challenge don't be so easy. I must say Prince is a true player.

How can one not know one after dating 3 years? i heard prince isn't easy to get close to. i think he's afraid of rejection? u know, even though some of us are talented and great looking, with lots of money, that doesnt mean we're necessarily happy, or loaded with confidence. that dont mean anything. I have heard the song "I Hate U" was written/inspired by his relationship with Nona Gaye. If so, I think that song pretty much says it all...

Just like Mayte, there wasn't no complaining going on when they were all up in the videos and singing duets together. They all got what they wanted and then moved on.
