Black Hawk Entertainment is pleased to host this special night with these pioneering, Grammy-Award winning, chart-topping leaders in funk & pop music. These bands created the sounds that have shaped R&B and Hip Hop music as we know it today. They wrote the soundtracks we all grew up with in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and now also in the new millennium.

The Gap Band is one of the most influential groups in the history of R&B with front man Charlie Wilson and his brothers, Robert and Ronnie Wilson. Hits include "You Dropped A Bomb On Me," "Party Train" and "Burn Rubber.”

Kool & The Gang has influenced three generations of music, and sold more than a million albums worldwide. They have taken home two Grammy Awards and have 31 Gold and Platinum albums for songs such as “Celebration,” “Cherish” and “Jungle Boogie.”

Initially established by Prince, Morris Day & The Time’s funky and danceable R&B sound has endured the test of time. Hits include "Jungle Love," "The Bird" and "Gigolos Get Lonely Too."}}}

Yarbrough & Peoples has been a household name since 1981, when "Don't Stop the Music" reached # 1 on the R&B charts and nominated for a Grammy Award. Their most recent achievements include the multi-platinum hit song by RAP artist, Eve with vocals by Alicia Keys called "Gangsta Lovin" which earned them a BMI Urban Music Award as writers.
