Endorphinemachine used in opening of CSI Miami

Just watching CSI Miami, 9-22-03, Monday night. The very opening of the show used Endorphinemachine, during a fashion show montage where a murder takes place? Freaked me out! Wonder if Prince gets a few dollars for that. Probably not...

Any snippet of music or other media (e.g. snippets of movies when a running TV set is shown in a film) has to be licensed - and the composer/lyricist as well as the performer of a song gets a share of the fee paid.

The amount which has to be paid for licensing any snippet depends on the context it is shown in, respectively the number of people who are reached with the new context it is presented in. Also it depends on the length of the snippet which is featured.

If I remember it right, including a snippet in a movie for the big screen is more expensive than in a TV show; this again being more expensive than using it on a website (which on the other hand depends on how long it is linked there).

Btw, the latter is quite interesting in context to the songs on NPGMC in the reflection room... I presume there has to be some arrangement with Warner Bros to include older songs.

Just my three cents. Always one too much. wink

aghh. The Gold Experience!! That's back when I actually believed that Prince (or prince at the time) was going to put out revolutionary music at a new feverish pace.
The abulm was tight, the songs where concise, and the performances back then where almost at LoveSexy stature. I remember actually getting excited when I'd hear slogans like "U should hear the stuff I'm doing now!", and "music should be free!", and "There are over 500 experiences to choose from".
I think shortly thereafter, stresses of the business (Dealing with WB), the loss of his child, and the eventual dissolving of his marriage affected both the quality and output of future releases.
Like his earlier great albums, I can always look back to the Gold Experience and remind myself of the kind of music Prince is capable of doing--truly inspirational.

This is an example of how Universal Music's Publishing arm will get Prince's music played again. I also heard that "Adore" was played on Eve's new UPN show last night as well. In my opinion, they are off to a good start in geting his catalog the proper exposure.

And more likely it's a negociated fee.

How cool, strange that they picked Endorphine Machine which is one of his more obscure songs. There must be some fams on the show. I hope his songs turn up on more shows as well.

In response to songs used in the 'Reflection pool'; as Prince has stated in the past, Warners own the rights to the original 'masters' but not the actual masters/songs (i think?) This gives Prince the "right to re-master" the song and re-release it etc. i do believe the songs in the reflection pool are re-mastered (?)thus allowing them to be sold/given away/ played etc. Anyone else have any views on this?

That's all I can say...one thing about this org...someone always beats you to the post and says exactly what you're feeling. I can't even think of twocents to add. (other than I really like "Endorphinemachine" lol)
