Where are the haters that think chart position is the sole determinant of quality and substance?

LOL! I think most ppl DO want a live album and DVD to have come out since Prince is such a world reknown live performer so they'll buy that more than an album IMHO. I think it wouldn't be on Billboards #2 position if more stores had an "opened item" return policy though smile

My other theory is that the JW around the world are buying it to support their own.

Then of course there is the Bart-Conspiracy theory which did hold true with TMBGITW and Emancipation. The belief that Prince, himself, is buying back all those DVDs to get himself on the Billboards chart.

God, who cares! All some of you people do is bicker and argue over the dumbest things. This Lamont person has far too much time on his hands.

Thank you tollyc for the cool news. It is nice to see Prince on top of ANY kind of chart!

actually, most jw's either don't know or don't believe that prince is truely a jw. trust me as being a jw whom has been the object of ridicule for many years over being a prince fan that most jw's to this day despise prince.

You think this is dumb??? Head over to the GD forum or the P&R forum. You will find PLENTY of it.

IM glad that the DVD is selling well. Now if we could just get P to release SOTT and The Undertake on DVD.
My DC Direct wishlist: 1) Bane, 2) Prof Zoom, 3) Superman Blue, 4) Kilowag, 5) Parasite

I'm happy that he's getting some recognition for this tour, although I must say that having seen the tour in London, the quality of the production on this dvd is a dissapointment. I can only imagine that the songs that he left off the disc were simply too poorly shot to include. Cause the dvd comes nowhere near the experience of the concert in it's entirety. I actually prefer the Rave 2000 disc.

Why didn't MJ try that with Invincible, eh?

How did Bart back up this claim? Since you call it a belief, I've got a hunch it's not one of those FACTS.

And yeah, this DVD is quite poor, no question about it.

I don't know if it is bickering but, there are a lot of haters on this site. It has become a bizarre cult of negative naysayers who never have anything to say when Prince does something good (such as make the Billboard chart)

If you don't like the DVD then do not buy it but, getting on this site and saying the picture is distored and unwatchable is just a bald face lie. The same people who find this unwatchable would go out and buy a bootlegg that would be the same quality.

As i said B4..."Prince is a underground/cult now indie artist that has touches of success in the mainstream pop world." His attitude has always been that way even after the success of Purple Rain. And B4 Purple Rain, his audience grew mostly by word of mouth that this guy was the real deal. I'm happy that Prince has now found the freedom 2 express himself musically with or without vocals. The man is sooo bold. No other artist has the talent or guts to pull off what he has achieved. People say the he has "yes" around him, but if U take a listen 2 the output that he has done in recent years...he is listening 2 no one but himself and his inner spirit/inspriration. A true artist will create whether is is broke or rich.

What this actually says to me is this: The only people that have a problem with this DVD appear to be the "real fans". The general public is not nearly as nit-picky when it comes to this DVD. I manage a Sam Goody store, and I began playing the DVD when we got it in. As soon as people saw him on the screen and heard the music playing, they wanted it, I have even had a few people come back for the Rave 2000 DVD after watching the Vegas one. The DVD is what it is, not what so many people here seem to want it to be. If you like it, fine, if you don't like it, don't watch it, don't buy it or whatever, but find something new to complain about, reading the complaints about this has already gotten old.

P.S.
A freind of of mine, who works in a Media Play (in another city) has had similar success with the Vegas DVD. He has even had to give rain checks when they were sold out.

This is great news!!! I'm also glad to hear the guys that own those San Goody record stores are playing the DVD and selling them out as well. That reminds me of the days when I would go to the wrecka stow on the day of a new Prince release and it would be blasting on the speakers. I hope Prince can once again continue to make the top of the Billboard charts.

Don't mind the haters. A lot of them are probably Warner Bros. executives trying to pass themselves off as "fans". doh!
Or they are grudge holders whose Prince sites were threatened with lawsuits 100 years ago.
Meanwhile, Prince keeps building the foundation. It can be a slow and painstaking process, but the results will be well worth it.

i COMPLETELY agree with you. I have seen the concert now 4 times live and the DVD does not do a thing for the live performance. the video quality was awful. It would have been great if he just pieced some nights of Xenophobia together. (just my opinion)

I've said it before, I'll say it again:

To improve your viewing experience of the Vagas Dvd (and any other Dvd for that matter.) Here are some tips:

- adjust the "Black Level" on Dvd player. The level should be set to "off".

- Use optical or coxial cable audio hookups.

- Use S-video hookups.

- set your home theater system to "theater' or Stadium settings. This drives Dolby Digital 2.0 through all 5.1 systems.

doing this will ehance your experience.

And Prince wonders why we buy bootlegs. I have probably 10 boots that I can think of off the top of my head with better packaging and better camera work. When I bought this and brought it home, my girlfriend started yelling at me thinking I went out and bought another "expensive" bootleg. For being such a control freak, Prince really seems not to give a damn about the quality of this one.
