Letter from pixius regarding NPGMC:

Got this in the mail, don’t know if someone already has sent this in.
Its good that they are on the lookout for problem and that they are fixing them. /BlueAngel

NPG Music Club Members

Dear Members,

This letter is in regards to the problems that some of you have experienced with the new NPG Music Club web site. Pixius accepts full responsibility for these problems and this is not a reflection on NPG nor Prince. Pixius apologizes for any inconveniences you might experience and are working to resolve all issues. We underestimated the extreme popularity of the new NPG Music Club site. It is Pixius' desire to provide the NPG Music Club members with the best web site possible and in that vane have already taken steps to correct most of the problems. Pixius will continue to upgrade the site's performance, which will improve your personal experience as a member. We appreciate your comments as they help us make the NPG Music Club web site a wonderful experience for all members.

Sincerely,

Gary Duncan

Pixius

[Personally, I feel if you're going to send out a letter to a lot of people, have someone who understands the difference between 'vein' and 'vane', read through it first. And maybe tone down the use of the word 'experience'. And while it's nice to SAY it doesn't reflect on Prince or the club, that's not how it works. It DOES reflect on them both. That's exactly why this letter was sent. Do you think fans are going to say "oh, Pixius sucks"? No--people are going to say "Prince/the NPGMC sucks for not getting a company who knows what they're doing, to build the site". Oh well, it's a nice gesture, anyhow... at least you can 'experience' their apology e-mail here if you couldn't get logged into the site smile -Ben]

I think it's pleasing that a member can receive an e-mail regarding an issue without Prince new-speak, even with redundancies and poor spelling. What I don't understand is why they were in such a rush to get the thing up in the first place. At least this could have been a beta period for old members or something.

Shit happens.

I feel quite annoyed reading criticism already about the site. I feel irritated to see what I perceive as spoilt children, impatiently waiting for their new toy to work.

What a shame.

I agree. The letter is a nice why of letting the fans know that a vendor has caused the problems with the site and the Prince and company is not purposely trying to rip-off the fans or inconvenice people. When he tries to make something right there is still complaining.

Been thinking.

I said that I perceived 'spoilt children'. I think I can understand people feeling frustrated and impatient, which is what I think happens in place of 'spoilt children'.

I realised I was being quite the critical parent saying that.

However, I still do feel irritated viewing the frustration and impatience.

Just wanted to elaborate on my original post.

At least Pixius was kind enough to acknowledge that there is a problem, instead of just ignoring it. I will be glad when they get the bugs worked out, since I can't get past the fountain at this point. When I click on it, nothing happens. confuse
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

I think the site is fantastic, despite the glitches. I have been able to view everything (I think) except the cyberclips. It is much more than I ever would have expected--the pages are beautiful, and I love the 'game-like' quality of moving through the different rooms. And the way to go back to the previous screens is killer.
I too appreciate that pixius sent out the email to let us all know that they are working on fixing any glitches. Having some programming background, and with a husband who is also a programmer, I understand that although things may work great in a test environment, when you get people logged on to the site from all kinds of different computers with all kinds of different software and all kinds of different connection speeds from all over the world, there's a good chance you might run into some problems. There is not always an opportunity for a full-blown 'test' that tests all the different variables involved.
Bravo to pixius, the NPGMC, and above all--Prince.

The apology is cool but it should be the NPG apologizing not Pixius. It's like we're playing the blame game. This was like Tiger Woods blaming his caddie for his bad shot last week. In the end, our relationship is with Prince and NGP...not Pixius. If Pixius is to blame, keep that shit internal Prince. It's like buying a product that doesn't work and then when you complain to the company that sold it to you...they blame their vendors.

Before you critique me, I'm not a perpetual complainer...I thought last year was well worth the money I spent.

I agree, but aren't vocabulary misuse, spelling abuse, and redundant phrasing the defining characteristics of Prince-speak?

sigh

I thought the email was nice, and the information and communication shown were very appreciated (by me, at least)

Please, let's not nitpick every tiny, insignificant thing. sad That really makes US look very petty and small.

It's obvious that those behind the new NPGMC site have worked very hard these past months getting the site ready to launch, and ARE still working very hard to give us all a site we can really enjoy. I think it's unfair to rip apart little details in an email, like a misspelled word, etc. sad

. You guys complain if you don't get an apology letter AND you freakin complain when you get one. It's like, "oh my God, Prince / NPGMC is not replying or responding to my complaints, but then when someone does reply and I might add, rather quickly. You tear them apart!! GEEZ!!!

Message: It should work now, just log in again when it asks for your username and password. Keep in mind that you need Windows Media Player 9.0 if you're using Windows, and WMP 7.1 if you're using MacOS. Download it and install if you don't already have it. WMP 8.0 for Windows works too, but you need the WMP 9.0 codecs installed. (If you don't know what I'm talking about, and it doesn't work, click the link on the Cyberlinks page to download WMP 9.0 and install it, then try again.)

Details: There were problems transferring the session authentication credentials to the domain the media files were stored in, from the behavior I saw. So they've moved the files to a different location and reintiated authentication. If you know what you're doing, WMP 8.0 for Windows will also work. Installing just Windows Media Encoder 9.0, and not the Media Player, works for me. The WMP 9.0 UI is just horrid, so avoid upgrading.

Totally agree with you T. I think people should back off with the criticism they seem eager to give the 2003 club. Having sent out their email proves how keen they are trying to get this to work. How much do you think that site cost to build? So, Im sure Prince wants it to work too.

It's been said before, but Ill add my twocents
Like many have said in previous posts on this thread, at least we're being told SOMETHING - as apposed 2 nothing.

Ok, so some dont like it, crash that's ok - no matter HOW the site was constructed, it aint ever gonna be 2 everyones tastes. But cut them SOME slack at least! The site's only just gone live (after a heavy period of negativity and speculation on the org about just what - if ANYTHING) was ever going 2 happen with the NPGMC.

It may not be what YOU want, but they've TRIED something a little different, and tried 2 cater 4 as many different tastes in an eclectic way, 2 make it an enjoyable (dare I say it) 'experience'. It seems that some cant see the wood 4 the trees, and that's a shame.

I understand peeps saying there should've been a Beta period 4 the site - their is valid foundation right there in that thought, but just remember those months of inactivity, and people literally clawing their hair out 4 SOMETHING. Well, wake up call - it's here. U are either in or out. Everyone has a choice, and Im not saying that u have no place 2 complain if u wish - just simply saying, they SEEM 2 be TRYING, give them the chance 2 prove themselves this time around at least.

If they f*ck it up again, then I'll be voicing my concerns 2, but at the end of the day, 4 $25, Im not that concerned. $100 and I may have been posting a differently!

I have 2 say that i agree with Goldiesparade and Therapy... its such a shame that some people on this site never seem happy unless they r nickpicking every little detail about NPGMC (in the years past and even now when the site has only been up 4 a few days!) Its IMPOSSIBLE to run a complete test of such a huge and complicated site b4 putting it out there 4 everyone to explore... and its unfair 2 say that Pixius isnt the most professional of companies, of course it is! U think a perfectionist like Prince would waste his money and time on a company that doesnt know what they r doing!?!... of course not.

Give Prince and the people working 4 & around him a break, they r trying their best 4 us.. the people that want this 2 work as much as they do. Would u guys just prefer not 2 have a NPGMC and go find some other music 2 listen 2?... i'm guessing u wouldn't. SO STOP COMPLAINING AT THE DROP OF A HAT.. ALL THE FUNKING TIME!!!

SO WHAT if there is a few typos and u would prefer if they "down toned" somethings in what i consider 2 b quite an HONEST AND APOLOGETIC email... at least they r explaining what they r trying 2 do 2 make the site the best they can, u don't see them bitching about the idiots here complaining all the time do u? how do u think that "REFLECTS" on us??

People need 2 chill and get some respect 4 all the work that is going on 4 US (Prince's fans) right now at Paisley.

Jeeez... i haven't even joined yet and people are already ruining it 4 me. I'd much rather have the straight out email put up without silly little posts complaining about something which is actually quite positive 4 us and NPGMC.

my twocents worth.

I just can't understand:
Prince could easily find a super webdesigner and for free if tried to get the best in life!
I just saw the flash space-intro, and, well, it's just bad taste! The letters don't go from the same point: it's too bad, to cheap and almost crap… and that blue button! A secretary would have done the same job!
You click and then you suppose that you are going to get in a space ship! Logical. Not at all: it's a palace!
Does this picture come from an old CD-rom or what? This is just too old and untasty work! I would have done a wonderfull picture if Prince asked me, and for free!
And what about that "join" page: brrr…

God, is it that the 'BIG THING"? Come on, it's ugly!
Remember:
Loveforoneantoher.com
npgmusicclub.ocm first version

That's was fantastic at that time, and very pro! Not that cheap! I already regret the flashy previous site!
Guess Prince will get a real 2003 manager to kick his ass!
If Prince needs a real webdesigner, he can surf on: www.calhoune-square.fr
www.pureviolet.org
www.housequake.com

HEY LISTEN UP PEOPLE!

This is a NEW version of the club and there are bound to be some technical problems. This is ONLY day 3 of the club RELAX. I'm sure everything will get worked out. I haven't been able to view the videos or sound clips yet but I KNOW that I will eventually. Also, if you were to XPERIENCE everything the opening day there would be no more surprises for a while until there is an addition made. Also if Pixius was hired to develop the site and they were PAID then it is their responsibility to fix it. Yes, it does reflect on the club and we were politely and immeadiately informed of this. They are at the top of their game.

I believe there was a lot of time, hard work, and creativity that went into the site. Let's be thankful that the club has been listening to our comments throughout the year. We wanted a chatroom at NPG and we got one. The donation/fee for the club is VERY affordable too.

I bet if some of you could have spoken when you came out of the womb you would have said mom couldn't you have speeded up my delivery. lol

Even the org has had problems before and we have also had a nice apology from the org for errors that have happen with the site.

Enjoy your new playground everyone. music headbang

Well, at least they're communicating promptly and clearly. I have to give them that, both Pixius and Prince's company for communicating.

I think that in itself is professional.

So they didn't spell checklk! Big deal.

Let's look at all the violent weaponry emoticons on this site then talk about how what reflect what on people... doh!

But that's another thread.

Anyway, more than anything in the site, the communication and customer care gesture is greatly appreciated Prince and Pixius!
