http://www.nme.com/news/104728.htm PURPLE PAIN!

PRINCE fans have spoken out after the star demolished the family home which inspired his famous 1984 album and film 'PURPLE RAIN'.

'The Purple House', which stood on Lake Riley in Minneapolis, was knocked down two weeks ago - it had been a site of pilgrimage for Princefans for years.

Disgruntled fans have flooded unofficial Princewebsite Prince.org with complaints.

One fan said: "There was such history in that house - a lot of '1999', 'Purple Rain' was recorded in the basement studio."

Another fan said:" It is a shame, historically speaking you know. It could have been made into a museum perhaps one day. A Minnesota historical site."

Prince recently fell out with his sister, Lorna Nelson, over their late father's will, but her attorney said the demolition had nothing to do with her.

The star's lover, Manuela Testolini, is also rumoured to be pregnant so he could be planning to build a larger house on the same site or could be moving to Canada, where he owns another property.

Prince was set to play Glastonbury this year, but festival organiser Emily Eavis said the two parties were unable to reach an agreement.

well, at least we can see that NME refers to Mani as Prince's "lover", not "wife". lol

The significant thing about this is that the NME reckon P is relevant enought to write ANYTHING about.

This has to be his first mention in ages!

Prince's lover. lol
That reminds me of a sketch on SNL where two characters are constantly referring to each other as "my lover". It's the way they say it that makes it so funny.

What kind of loser complains about a house that they have never been in and have no rights to? It was not a museum or even a historical landmark. It was NOT the inspiration for Purple Rain - who made that up?

Anyone have any pictures of the Purple House. And to the punk that said it didn't have any historical or museum purposes, "WRONG". All of 1999 was recorded there, etc., it could have been turned into something tourist would want to see!!!

Maybe that was the exact reason Prince had it demolished? His JW beliefs are very strict about "idolatry", so that could be part of it. He may have been uncomfortable with people coming to the house like it was some sort of mecca. I'm not saying I agree with the decision, just that that may have played a part in his reasoning. Its his house, he can do what he wants to with it, whether we like it or not.

Of course it was his house to do with what he wanted.

But, his father lived and died in that home.

I still go by the house my grandmother lived in and it is sort of like part of her is still here and it reminds me of my childhood. I would really feel bad if something happened to that house. But of course to each his own.

Prince has a lot of money. He didn't have to have that house destroyed. He could have rented it out to a family member

When I heard about it, the first thing that came to my mind was, Where was his heart?
