Cloud guitars for all...

Of course everyone will be checking npgmusicclub.com on the hour every hour for 2003 membership details, but I've just noticed that the cloud guitar has been moved to the general retail section.

It's available in white or blue to co-ordinate nicely with ur purple rain or lovesexy era outfits. lol Click here and get drooling: http://shopping.npgmusicc...m=BROWSE.2

At $1500 (£915.84) it would make a special members-only 10% discount real welcome in the 2003 package...

I'm not really impreseed with the Shechter copy of Prince's Cloud. While this may be a decent guitar, it is no where near the quality of the real thing. Just an example; The pickups are not the "active" EMGs that is essential to get that Prince sound. Additionally, take a look a the head (that's the place where the tuning pegs are). Notice how short and stubby the horn is instead of nice and pointed out (see Sign O The Times single cover). This is an indication of mass production cost saving. Finally, no Schaller hardware, another cost saving trick. If you want a more authentic copy, get Scott Anderson to make one for you. He helped me make mine, and it is the finest instrument I have ever played.

On a positive note, they did do a nice job on the body and scrolls! The paint job looks pretty good too. If you've got 1500 bucks to spend, then hell with it get one! I'm just a ***hole Prince Fam.

P.S. I didn't go to the ONA shows (I'm stuck in the other side of the world). Did Prince use the Cloud at all? None of the pics I saw showed it. It was nice to see the Hohner again! What a funky guitar.

Peace and love!

Uptown...Prince played the Blue Cloud in Vegas during "Whole Lotta Love." That was the only time I saw him play one on the tour, and I saw a bunch of shows. Also, the 2003 Calendar has pictures from Europe/Japan, and there is a picture of him playing the Blue Cloud there.

I am pretty sure Vegas was the only show in America with a Cloud...

I purchased one to stick on the wall in my study...looks fantastic on the wall. NPGMC made a mistake and only charged me $1000 (£625) for the set neck version in White. Hope to play it one day, learning on an acoustic for now.

A friend of mine played it for about 10 minutes once and there is now a slight ware/crack on the the paintwork beside the fret..which is disappointing. Maybe I should keep it on the wall.

Same here... I bought n awesome acrylic case for it and now it's art.

I never bought it to play, just for a piece of art.

Like my Mother said "If you bought it for a guitar you spent too much, but for art you did good because it's beautiful"

I want one so bad but you cant justify that price. Its hardly a fender or gibson so whys it cost so much? Are we paying for the copyright on the design?

Also, glad they havnt started selling Habibi guitars too, only one person can play that guitar

I would love the cloud guitar only if Prince gave it to me personally. This would be the perfect oppurtunity for Prince to come to the ATL. during the all star festivities before it's time to renew my membership. A NPG party in the ATL. will set things off. Hopefully, the membership fees stay the same. It's taking along time for NPG website to get back on track. Hopefully, it's worth the wait.
