I know...I was expecting "Purple Rain". Also, "I Feel for You" is on the list, and I believe one of his others as well. I can't remember now which one. I think "Nothing Compares 2 U"...but not sure. Not bad for 3 songs to be on the list, but 2 of them I wouldn't have chose. He has sooo many better ones...Adore, The Beautiful Ones, etc...etc.

There are so many love songs. Who votes for these love songs on VH1 anyway? They've came up with so many of these top 100 shows now that their opinions doesn't mean nothing.

I agree. I don't consider "I Feel for You" a love song either. Maybe it's just me, but I think love songs should be slow tempo!!!

His picture is even on the home page at VH1 (along with a few others). Prince, Elvis, Celine Dion and Lionel Ritchie.

Can anyone tell me why people make up and need this kind of lists? Every year they make up new ones and call them "greatest"

I would put "Adore" on top of the list.

I think "I would die 4 U" is a great love song (though Top 100 is a stretch). Just because the tempo is up doesn't mean that it does not portray love as well as a slow song. In my opinion, it is the fact that the song is rather up tempo that makes it a great love song. It captures the feel without having to rely on the traditional technique of heavy bass, slow rhythm, and tortured "oh baby's."

The lyrics "You're just a sinner I am told/ I'll be your fire when you're cold/ I'll make you happy when you're sad/ I'll make you good when you are bad" capture love in a way few songs do.

Now I would have to agree with some of the others on the site that there are plenty of Prince songs that deserve to be on this list, including "Adore," "D&P," and "She loves me for me," which would never make any VH1 list but is in my opinion Prince's finest love song.
