It's not him and he had nothing to do with it. It's by a group called "Ready for the World".

That's the problem with downloading...people can just make up anything.

Definitely NOT Prince nor Sheila E.

Ready For The World put out this song when Prince was at his peak, capitalizing on sounding just like him, and fooling A LOT of people with the title.

Haters. Melvin had a crush on Ms.Escevedo. He was a fan well after he met her.smile
As for them sounding like Prince...wrong. Maybe they sounded like the Time would have if they tried harder.
If you first don't suceed try again.
P.S. All of the guys were under 18 when they hit. Still in school jamming like that? They burned live. Ready to Take Over the World. Wonder if theirs a promo video floating around somewhere. Hum.
sorry if that was over your head...jump up and try to catch the point next time.

I liked some of RFTW's songs, but let's face it,there was nothing original about these guys.Their first two albums borrowed heavily from the Prince sound of 1982-83.Then,when they got tired of copying the Minneapolis sound, they jumped on the New Jack Swing bandwagon for their third album, the inappropriately titled 'Ruff N' Ready'(1988).By the time they released their fourth album,'Straight Down To Business' in 1991,they had apparently run out of trends to latch onto.

When RFTW came out, they were compared a LOT to both Prince and MJ both sound and look-wise.

I liked 'em too.

It annoys me that to this day 'Oh Sheila' comes up as Prince song...you'd think somebody would have corrected that by now (it's been going on since the days of Napster)

The Time is Prince so RFTW did sound like Prince at the time.

this is too funny! who knew they had more than 2 songs. they tried really hard to make people think they were prince. i have friends who thought that was prince up until last year. i liked the song, though, but mostly because it sounded like prince. and let me love you down was a good one too. hahaha...still laughing at the fact that they had 4 releases!

Ready for the World was not copying from anyone. Everyone you are talkig about played for a choir. Even Prince played organ for his fathers church. Smile.
I love those guys. Do you think Prince cracked the whip on the Time?

And did you know that Donna Summer sang both "I Will Survive" and "I'm So Excited". Busy gal! Actually, I think she did do a little bit of "I Will Survive" at the Grammys the year it was nominated or something..just a bit of triva.

People must compare when there is no point of referrence from which to measure.
RTFW had the best videos... Check out the video for the song "Slideover"...
Who is the girl on the couch with Melvin. She looks hot...HA! HA!
