Mavis Staples / "The Voice" Album / Production credits

Princevault names Ricky Peterson as the producer of most of the Prince-Tracks on Mavis Staples' "The Voice"-Album...

Did they just use the CD-Booklet information?

Or has it really been confirmed by somebody who was present at the recording sessions?

Isn't it a bit hard to imagine, that Prince let someone else produce new songs like "You Will Be Moved" with his band (NPG)?

Do you think it's believable?

I think it's believable. He played keyboards and produced quite a bit of material in the 90's, most notably on The Gold Experience.

.

And Paul Peterson stated recently Ricky produced (uncredited) Prince's version of 5 Women.

Ricky Peterson has done plenty of work for Prince, including producing TMBGITW, 319, Eye Hate U, Lovesign, If I Love U 2night (Mayte),...

Questions like this really show a significant weakness of PrinceVault: it's not easy to get an overview (e.g. what recordings is Ricky P involved in) unless there's someone maintaining such an overview. Instead a lot of those pages could and should be data-driven, i.e. structured data being parsed by software to generate pages. That way you could easily generate graphs as well, showing e.g. how often he performed certain songs.

Yeah...

And a chronological-order calendar would be great, too imo...

I totally agree!!! I've been thinking the same for years.

I usually have to paste data into excel and apply my own filters - for example, otherwise it's quite hard to define what tracks would be considered as PR era otherwise.

As you say, it should all be data linked.

Sadly if the wrong architecture is started out with then it will mean a rebuild to get this sorted.

sad

Ricky has done a lot of work with Prince in the past. It's not hard for me to believe. Y'all should read the liner notes more. He's worked with Ricky more than St. Paul actually, despite The Time & The Family projects.
