They should try to get it together and arrange releases by a Nelson people actually care about. If Prince had really been that interested in this project, as some have suggested, he'd have initiated it while he was still alive. The family are basically now using the Paisley studios for their own vanity projects.

Co-sign a waste of time and money. Why waste time on this when the estate has the rights to vault material and a ready made fan base?

They could use NPG music to stream the NPG years vault material. They own that with no restrictions and this is what they are spending time on and since when is Sharon a music producer.

I honestly think Prince was found on a doorstep.

LR, this got to be one of the most adorable things you've ever posted!

I agree Clover.

People who make a choice to become overly invested in things that aren't their business and that they have no control over deserve their own self-imposed misery. Like the Nelsons, we can't let them drag us down.

The Nelsons have not put themselves out there with snide remarks on social media, nor have they run to any publishers with heresay. I applaud them waiting a respectable amount of time to proceed and respect their right to handle their family's affairs in private without ill-informed second guessing.

--But you are commenting do I guess this is now your business.

Key phrase there is "overly invested". That means not merely commenting, but making a career of minding other's affairs 20 out of 24 hours every day. That is the difference.

We can all speak our mind so long as we remember at all times that our opinions are formed with limited inside information and therefore should never be stated as facts.

It's unfortunate that the Nelson's did not all work together and publish their Father's wonderful music while he was still alive.

It's a sad and unfortunate fact that any music that is released by the estate or heirs, post-Prince or post-John Nelson is going to be criticized, and no matter what the family does regarding Prince's legacy or their Father's legacy will always stir-up controversy.

[Edited 7/2/17 17:54pm]

See the twitter link from Charles F. Spicer he is the producer of the John L. Nelson project and a minion of Londell's. He has a picture of the inside of Paisley Park studios and parrots all of the dumb stuff Londell puts on his twitter.

I wonder who is paying him and why is he inside P's studio. Another way for Londell to get money out of the estate. If SNJ do not get rid of Londell and god forbid any of them should pass away this fool will always be involved in the estate as their attorney. neutral

I don't care for him either; not one bit.

He was at the recent PP celebration, it's been said that he's been a friend of Prince's for over 40 yrs, which may be the reason for his involvement in his father's project.

Who said this because Prince all of sudden sure has a lot of friends none of whom were working as engineers at Paisley or seen around. I did some Goggling on his and only found info about him from NYC. I think he is a friend of a certian lawyer or Sharon who up until recently lived in NY.

Yes but Prince was not working with him anymore, so not sure why his family would involve him in the estate.

Excuse me for being ignorant, but I do not know ALL things Prince as others do- who the fuck is Londell anyway?

.

Londell McMillan (entertainment lawyer), was Prince's manager for many years and helped him with his battle against WB to gain the rights to his music.

All of the info I have is factual. Many people on this board do not take the time to read the court docs which are a matter of public record. It does not take 20 hours to read a court doc.

If people are interested in the info you have they can read the pleadings for themselves. The information is not exclusive to you. It is there for whomever cares to read it and there is a sticky for discussing it.

Actually it does take hours to scrutinize court documents. It also takes additional hours to participate in endless discussions regarding those many documents. That is what is meant by making a career out of things for no good reason. It is illogical to dwell endlessly on things we have no stake in.

The ex-associates, siblings, lawyers, sister-wives, has-beens and never-was, etc. are all jockeying for position because they feel they have a stake in what transpires. None of us here have any such reason to be that invested in the outcome of the proceedings. Therefore it is inappropriate to get too deeply involved and go to extremes in over analyzing other people's affairs at this late date.

Furthermore, it has not been established that this release is even from the estate, which is an assumption on the part of the OP. Therefore, until otherwise noted this thread has nothing to do with the court pleadings.

Yourself and OperatingThetan derailed the thread in order to shit on Londell, which is silly because it still has not been proven by the OP that this album is an estate release in the first place.

It's all well and good to have discussions but when the same thing keeps getting repeated ad nauseum on multiple threads like some kind of mantra it goes from being a commenter to being a gasbag.

All I see here is a woman who salvaged her deceased father's long lost compositions, het father also being the father of one of the most influencial musicians of our times, and recording the project in a studio that belonged to her deceased brother, who also was the composers' son? Wehew, what a sin!

Actually I'm quite grateful: I've wanted to hear John L's work for years, and I feared nothing was left of it at all beyond the EP and his few works with Prince.

.

As for the comment regarding why bother since she won't make money...? How sad really, if one can't honor their deceased parents without having money in mind. Have we sank that low that everything we do has to be motivated by profit?

.

And I'll end by adding that: wouldn't it be nice if, at some point, some estate people came to talk with us the fans to discuss what it is they should release and how? Maybe they wouldn't anyway, maybe they don't care. But if they do, and come here, and read all that bitching, I don't think they will ever talk to us anyway.

.

By all means please don't start bitching at me or trolling me, I won't reply to any such provokation. I just wanted to say how sad I feel this is (and it's not the first time I'm saddened by a moblynching on this board).

Thank you,. Also is this considered a release of the estate of Prince? Is it being released by NPG Records? I couldn’t find any copyright information on Tidal,

I would agree, why wouldn't you seek the knowledge of someone who successfully managed Princes business for over 13 years, the same guy who was instrumental in developing the strategy to allow Prince to remove SLAVE from his face and obtaining the ownership of his master recordings. #Truth

Prince was a quirky kinda guy! I mean, he could change his mind in a New York minute! If someone did anything that he did not agree with, he would simply not want to work with them anymore. He became very paranoid with contracts and didn't like them. Can you blame him, for all the bad experiences he had with WB and with two divorces and lawyers picking him for this and for that?

.

I'm sure Prince had a very good reason why he didn't want to work with Londell anymore. People change, and maybe he didn't feel Londell had his best interest at heart? Seeing what is playing out in the courts now with his estate and the shady things Londell is doing, I can certainly see why Prince didn't want to work with him anymore. I wonder if his siblings will continue to use his services much longer after this fiasco!!

It's clear from Londell's twitter that he's behind this release and is promoting it. I only hope he's now kept as far away from Prince's music and legacy as possible. I don't give a shit what he did in '96, his intention to keep his fee following the failed UMG deal (which he screwed up) is all I need know about his character.

SMFH, stop deflecting. Everybody already knows that. How, specifically is THE ESTATE involved?

Londell being "involved" as an "advisor" to a sibling is NOT the same as working on behalf of the estate itself and you know it so stop tap dancing.

The thread title says that this is THE 1ST ESTATE RELEASE. Prove that Fourth Quarter Entertainment is part of the estate? Is that clear enough for YOU?

The article linked to does NOT say that and NONE of you have shown any EVIDENCE supporting the claim made by the OP that the actual estate itself is involved with this release in any way.

Again, the OP says,

1st Estate Release : An Album by John L. Nelson (lol):

We know that. None of that ties the estate to this release. That was our question to the OP who has abandoned the thread. Unless and until he proves his claim is true the thread is pointless because it was not about Londell in the first place. OperatingThetan jacked the thread and made it about him.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Extra, Extra, read all about it, "The Estate has nothing to do with the release. The recent news introducing the project noted that Sharon is releasing the album in honor of her father independently via her own label Maken It Music. From the looks of it the single itself is becoming critically acclaimed based on great reviews, Kudos to her.

--What studio was used to work on the tracks? Who are the heirs to the John Nelson estate? Who is backing the record lable? Why don't you admit that you are involved with the project?

From prince 1982 Musician interview:

MUSICIAN: Is your father a good musician? What does he play?

PRINCE: Piano. The reason he’s good is that he’s totally... he can’t stand other than his. He doesn’t listen to anybody. And he’s really strange. He told me one time that he has dreams where he’d see a keyboard in front of his eyes and he’d see his hands on the keyboard and he’d hear a melody. And he can get up and it can belike 4: 30 a.m. and he can walk right downstairs to his piano and play the melody. And to me that’s amazing because there’s no work involved really; he’s just given a gift in each song. He never comes out of the house unless it’s to get something to eat and he goes right back in and he plays all the time. His music. . .one day I hope you’ ll get to hear it. It’s just—it sounds like nothing I’ve ever heard.

We did hear it. His Dad had music out back in 94. This is a useless project while fans wait with money in hand for Prince's material which some of the sibs have inadvertently caused a delay. This is the point that you seem to be missing because you and a few others have your fingers in the pie. I want to hear the last Atlanta show that Prince was going to put out because right now the bootleggers have it out and there is no reason for that occurring they know they can make money and people will buy it. Prince left a business structure in place and a rack of material that is owned by the estate pick up were Prince left off and keep going forward not backward. I said it before but I honestly
think he was found on a doorstep.
