Hope everyone is holding up OK today <3

Last week I shared with you guys an interview I did with Mayte. I mentioned that the editor made the decision to cut certain portions for length (she wanted the article to be a little more focused on parenting as that was the section of the site it was going up on, and it was already running quite long).

Today, some of those previously cut portions have been published in a new article on the entertainment vertical of the site, where it's more appropriate for the subject. I pushed for this for you guys, I want you to know! I specifically put in the parts where she talks about his family's feelings on The Most Beautiful, and something else that will delight half of you and enrage the other half: She's toying with the idea of writing a second book.

"it's coming from love". LAWD HAVE MERCY! She can stab someone in the back and sweetly say "it's coming from a place of love" without batting an eye. I don't have a problem with her writing a book about her creative contributions to Prince's music (backing vocals, choreography of videos for certain songs, inspiration for songs) but I hope she reaches out to the musicians who played and helped arrange the music on those songs to give greater context to that period and for those cats to get their just due.

I liked the book but there is no doubt she had a ghostwriter. I can guarantee, she did not write that.

Yes, she did have a ghostwriter. I saw somewhere (can't remember where, I will try to find) where she said she specifically chose one who had also lost a child. She thanks a writer named Joni Rodgers in the acknowledgements of The Most Beautiful, and that's who I believe it was.
