Rosie Gaines Needs Help Just saw this posted on the Facebook by a lady named Cynthia Rose. She says "I spoke with Ms. Brenda the other day and I stated that we FANS will help out as much as possible. They are implementing disability benefits but no word yet"
Here is the Jan 2015 article that explains Rosie's situation. http://www.sfgate.com/mus...036780.php
Cynthia goes on to say she spoke to Ms. Vaughn and she is going to get back with Cynthia with more information. More than anything I beleive Rosie could use our prayers! If anyone finds out more info of how we fans can help or when I find more info I will update this post.

This is just so very sad, I have always adored Rosie's vocals and to read this is heart breaking, somebody somewhere must be able to reach her (mentally)and support her, this just shouldn't be

So the benefit concert was in 2015 and it says Prince was helping. Where does she stand today? I am recently disabled and had to give up my career due to 10 spine surgeries and moved in with my parents. It's emotionally devastating, so I know how she feels. I pray she is in a better place today. I will be praying for her none the less. [Edited 12/1/16 11:15am]

This is awful for Rosie and her loved ones. Isn't there a way that her daughter could get power of attorney or have Rosie placed on a 72 hour psych hold or did they try in the past? I'm praying for her.

I hope she get the help she needs. I also read the above article and she also was refusing help from family and friends. Mental illiness is no joke. I wish her the best.

This is very heartbreaking news to hear. Rosie is a very talented musician/performer with a powerhouse voice. As Prince fans, it would be nice if we can help assist Rosie and her family during this difficult time. I am sure if Prince was still alive, he would do all he can to help her. Please keep us posted, if possible.

I am assuming Rosie is in Cali.
If so then California should have a few programs for the likes of her to get short term disability insurance or other programs while she is waiting for her perm disability benefits. It look like she applied for SSI or SSDI and yeah it is hell to get even in more progressive states like Cali but still California does a whole lot more of helping the poor and disabled through their state and local dollars than my sorry ass state that poor people and disability people would have been mess up without getting federal assistance as local organizations and churches here had emergency assistance.
But I hope some fans will able to help her out in the meanwhile and I also hope she have a good support system that strongly encouraged her to accept help from others around her too until she get some benefits. I wish I can help but I got my own issues too.

I am so sorry to read this thread, but now I understand why she wasn't featured at the Tribute concert in October. Her absence was so disturbing to me . I kept thinking, where's Rosie? If anyone could have done justice to his musical legacy it was her. Nothing compares to the two of them singing together. My prayers for her.

I'll definitely keep Rosie in prayers. It's very nice that they are having a benefit concert to help her. Thank you for giving us the heads up justAmeda. It's very thoughtful of you to take such interest in the people who've worked with Prince the way you do. Thank you.

Thank you for your comments luvgirl. It is much appreciated and I just feel that fans reaching out to those he worked with is a way to help them still feel love and connected to his fans but also it probably helps the fans still feel connected to P by supporting those he worked with as well

Back in 1998, I was visiting an internet chat room, The Holy River, on Prince's site Love4OneAnother. One night, not really thinking anything of it, I had mentioned that it was going to be a tight Christmas, that I wasn't going to be able to get my son anything that year due to having lost my job. Everyone was chatting and unbeknownst to me, someone in The River had seen what I'd said and decided to get everyone together and make sure my son had a Christmas that year. My friend, StarMaiden, asked for my address to send me a Christmas card and right before Christmas, gifts began pouring in for my son, from all over the country and world, and a few people even sent cash. I was floored that people who had never met me in person, who had only ever spoke with me in an internet chat room would do something so special, so wonderful, so incredible for my son and myself. To do this day, when I think of it, I still get teary eyed. I promised myself from that moment on (and still do), that I would find some way to pay it forward. I have spent all these years doing just that, when I see people in need or just acts of kindness wherever I can such as paying for someone's groceries, buying groceries for a homeless person, paying for someone's dinner bill when we're out. I struggle financially and have been unable to do this for a little while, but every once in awhile, I still manage to find a way, even if it means I go without something that month. But I've never truly been able to do so directly to one of those that helped out that one Christmas so many years. You see, Rosie Gaines was one of those people who sent me money that year. I had received a check from One Love in Pennsylvania. I found out several years later, when emailing back and forth to Rosie, that she was One Love because she had signed her email to me in exactly the same way that person from Pennsylvania had signed an enclosed card. I finally have the opportunity to pay forward to someone who was generous and compassionate towards my son and myself all those years ago. Thank you for posting this information. I am beyond happy to help Rosie out, but saddened to hear the circumstances. [Edited 12/10/16 11:17am]

This is so sad. I will continue to pray for Rosie. I remember the first time I heard her voice!! Ugh, wow. Still gives me chills years later. I hope she gets better because even though she has done A LOT, I'm sure she has so much more music to give. I hope she gets better for herself first and then her family. It seems like they really love her and only want what's best for her. She has the support of her fellow musicians and of course, us. I hope she knows we are all behind her. What a beautiful person she is. <3

You have to pm me and let me know who you were in The River! I was who I am now. Always and forever will be "benni" ~ probably because that's what my sister has always called me since long before I knew there was a Prince or a Holy River.

Thanks for posting Ameda. Like many of us, I had no idea she was going through so much. SO grateful to God she didn't loose any limbs and will continue to pray for her continued healing and peace of mind.

Just Ameda,
Thank you so much for posting this link to help Rosie and her family financially during this difficult time. I am reminded of the old quote "Tis the Season of Giving" and this is the most perfect time to honor Prince's legacy of helping those in need. Prayers and healing thoughts to Rosie and her family.

Dear Benni,
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story about Rosie. I am sincerely touched by her generosity without fanfare. WOW!! It says a lot about her beautiful spirit and character. We need to hear more positive stories like this. And yes, we must give back to Rosie (if we can).
