Fin février, une séance de répétitions particulière a eu lieu à Paisley Park.
NPG + FBH + MPLS + MonoNeon
Kirk Johnson est connu dans le monde princier depuis une vingtaine d’années. Il a été apercu comme danseur dans Purple Rain (pendant Jungle Love). 6 ans plus tard, il accompagne Prince sur le Nude Tour avec les Game Boyz et intègre la première mouture du NPG en tant que danseur et percussionniste. Il participe activement aux albums du milieu des années 90 (Emancipation notamment) et remplace Michael B. à la batterie entre 1996 et 2000 avant de laisser la place à John Blackwell. Parallèlement, il construit et produit des groupes satellites tels que TKO (avec sa sœur Kathleen Johnson) et The Fonky Baldheads. Ce dernier groupe a sorti 2 albums et a fait la première partie de Prince sur ses tournées en 2000 et 2001.
Kip Blackshire était le chanteur de ce groupe, tout en accompagnant Prince aux claviers et aux chœurs au sein du NPG entre 1998 et 2001. Il sort un EP éponyme en 2004 et un album en 2006 « The Eleventh Hour ». Il donnera à ces occasions des concerts dans le cadre des NPG Party à Paris. Il a depuis participé à des albums d’Eminem et réalisé quelques titres avec ses frères.
Dywane Thomas Jr, connu sous le nom MonoNeon, est un prodige de la basse, adoubé par Marcus Miller. Il a déjà sorti plusieurs albums depuis 2012 : « Down To Earth Art », « Southern Visionary », « Uncle Curtis Answered the Lobster Telephone » et « John Cage On Soul Train ». De nombreuses vidéos sont disponibles sur son compte youtube.
Jesse Larson est le guitariste du groupe #MPLS dont nous vous annoncions la sortie de l’album il y a quelques mois.
Un cinquième musicien non identifié pour l’instant a également participé à la session de répétitions.

Kirk Johnson is known in the princely world since 20 years. It was preview as a dancer in Purple Rain (for Jungle Love). 6 years later, he accompanied Prince on the Nude Tour with the Game Boyz and joined the first version of the NPG as a dancer and percussionist. He is actively involved in the albums of the mid-90s (including Emancipation) and replaces Michael B. battery between 1996 and 2000 before John Blackwell. At the same time, he built and produces satellite such as TKO groups (with his sister Kathleen Johnson) and The Fonky Baldheads. This latter group has released 2 albums and did the first part of Prince on his tours in 2000 and 2001.
Kip Yes was the lead singer of this band, while accompanying Prince keyboards and choirs within the NPG between 1998 and 2001. He released a self-titled EP in 2004 and an album in 2006 "The Eleventh Hour". On these occasions, he will give concerts in the NPG Party in Paris. He has since participated in albums of Eminem and realized a few titles with his brothers.
