P's addiction was a shock. Did people suspect MJ's addiction.

Don't kill me for bringing up MIchael.

But i was just wondering if anybody here suspected that MJ had a pain pill addiction before he died? I was watching a show about MJ today (scandal-like show, but still) and it mentioned that Jackson started pain pills and had an off-and-on-again addiction starting around the time he burned his head during the Pepsi ad. They stated that pills were a constant part of his life until his death and that once the child molesting scandals started, it was pretty apparent that he was a full-blown addict to most people but those who were delusional fans.

A.) Did anyone here notice any behaviors of MJ that indicated drug addiction (beyond the eccentricity he was known for)? (I am not a big MJ--He just seemed weird to me so I didn't pay much attention)

B.) Do you believe that MJ was an addict since 1983?

C.) How does Prince's situation compare?

Is it true Prince stated that he didn't want to comment on MJ's death because he was "too close to the situation" or something like that? I truly believe that he was clean during his Revolution days. Seems he changed a bit and took on a darker personality afterwards. I remember reading the story of him want to try X and Cat got him some from Anthony Kedis (RHCP). Is that story true? I do believe that he was very weary of drugs. Just about everyone who knew him has stated how he didn't use or drink. Celebs, GC, SN, who did use stated that Prince was against drugs. Stevie Nicks said that she believes that's why Prince stopped hanging out with her and how he always worried about her overdosing. I do believe he experimented post Revolution days and believe the pain pills started legitimately then got out of hand.

My heart sank when I heard the first news report about the possibility that pain pills played a part in Prince's death. Inside I was screaming, "No, dammit, not him too! Why??!!" I've had to witness up close and personal the devastating fallout resulting from the sudden and dramatic increase in prescribing opiates in the 1990's. The thought of Prince struggling with that hurt more than I can say. I would have never guessed it. Same with MJ. Nope. Didn't see it. Yet after it sank in I thought it's not that surprising given the vast number of people across the entire country who have not been spared from these dangerous drugs.
It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN
