I actually really dig these! It's unfortunate about the sound not being ideal but I'll take what I can get at this point....Anyway, I see it as one more step towards hearing them in full versions with decent audio! Favorites have to be Love And Sex, Emotional Pump, and the demo of Sister... biggrin

It´s nice that he´s playing these so we know they exist in good quality and might be released one day but on the other hand I wonder why he´s teasing the fans so much. I mean in the end, when it comes to Prince, he´s just a fan, too.

I wonder how he got access to these songs.

Honestly, I don't know how some of you are listening to these then.

Put on a set of earphones and you can make them out fine.

He was on a talk show recently. Said he has a music archivist looking for stuff full time. Then he stopped and said something like - that sounds pretty one percent doesnt it?

Brand new boogie without the hero.

Thanks for the heads up.

Love "Coco Boys" and "Call of the Wild"! Like "Feline". "Emotional Pump" is still my favorite of the bunch. I'm really hoping for an official release or a good quality leak. It's reassuring, though, to know this stuff exists.

The sound might be muddy, but you can hear enough to ascertain that these songs are very high quality and memorable.

This is genuinely strong, exciting material and bodes well for the vault. A classic album could be assembled from these songs alone.

First of all, thanks for the heads up bluegangsta, this is for sure something most of us are interested in.

That said, debate about quality doesn't seem necessary though. The fact is that these snippets are audience recordings of tracks played over a P.A. and probably recorded via cellphone.

Do they sound good? No.
Are they worth checking out? Yes!

Honestly, it's cool to hear these once or twice, but back in the day when we paid for bootlegs, a disc of this quality would SUCK hard. Luckily these are free so nobody should be bitching about the lack in quality, but it should be easy to understand why some people don't find them to be an enjoyable listening experience. No?

Again, thanks for pointing these out. Here's hoping that we all eventually get a chance to hear them properly, otherwise this is just Questlove showing off that he has stuff we don't.

1. Coco Boys August 25, 1986 (same night as "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night" was recorded in concert; a second recording is noted as September 14, a day after "Crucial", and 2 days before "Shockadelica" was recorded)

2. Call of the Wild Late July 1985 (same sessions as "Do U Lie", "Girls & Boys", "Neon Telephone", "Alexa De Paris", and "The Question of U")

3. Yo Mister (Prince vocal version - different to previous snippets) November 11, 1986 ("Cosmic Day" recorded a few days later)

4. Emotional Pump October 16, 1986

5. Eggplant July 8, 1986

6. Kiss Me Quick (already circulating)

7. Love and Sex (1984 version) February 27, 1984 (same day as "Traffic Jam", and 3 days before "When Doves Cry"; recorded again March 25, 1986 at Sunset Sound)

8. Feline (Vocal version) July 14, 1984 (a few days before "Nothing Compares 2 U")

9. Sister (Acoustic demo)

Just to put some dates & notes on these things, because I'm a nerd that way.

Since they were noted:

Come Home: January 6, 1987, the first song recorded since "Wally" on December 28, and (rerecorded on) December 29, 1986.

Come Elektra Tuesday: May 26, 1985 (two days after "My Man" for Jill Jones, and same day as "Heaven")

Well, welcome to being a DJ? lolololol Isnt part of the point of DJing to make your peers green with envy over getting things no one else can?

If you're good, and you can't get stuff thats unique wouldnt you at least rework a few things differently so you can distnguish your sets?

I nominate Call Of The Wild to be the first song released from the vault. That sounds like a monster. That would get peoples attention.

I hope this was included on one thse Revolution albums that were mentioned.

Mybe because the sound is shit and hurts your ears. Just telling people the truth thats all. Unlike you who just puts it it big headlines giving the impression there out there in listenable quality. When its not. Somebody has them in decent quality, so thats the good news. If we, the normal fans ever get to hear them is another story.

Actually a bit uncomfortable to listen with earphones since the download I found only has sound in one channel.

Å thread about Prince music was moved to associated artists? That's just weird. Who on earth came up with that idea? Do the modsatte actually think this is a Questlove thread??

lol Okay. Points given.

I don't know. When it comes to these outtakes that Quest has that are not circulating I get that elitist vibe from him. Reminds me of the elite circle of few that have otherwise uncirculating tracks that for whatever reasons they won't share but won't stop talking about. I just don't understand the mentality.

I get that same vibe from Quest playing tracks we can't get. It's like bragging or something.

I dunno. As I stated above, glad to hear the snippets, glad bluegangsta gave us a heads up, but I don't feel like I've really got to enjoy the experience of properly listening to them though.

I'm just jealous of Q. biggrin wink

.

This was recorded during a rehearsal/soundcheck for the 25 August 1986 Le Zenith/Paris show (which show was rumored to have been considered for a possible live album release, and from which show the basic tracks to "It's Gonna Be a Beautiful Night" were drawn; he references the "Detroit Crawl" in "Coco Boys", also an early reference to "the Kangaroo", similar to that section of "The Line").

.

PrinceVault gives a 14 September 1986 date for a studio recording of a song with this same title. It may be a re-recording or an entirely new recording altogether, or it may be work on mixing and overdubbing the tracks from the Le Zenith soundcheck into a more developed song (this being most likely. The ?uestlove leak appearing to be overdubbed and cleaned up and based directly on the soundcheck).

.
