Hahaha!!! lol so is this the new thing now. Hypocrisy??? Not only do you troll but youre a hypocrite now?You trash Prince for years but i write an honest comment about what i saw of the concert clips which was not even directed at you and you call it a nasty attack? The startribune don't know you from a can of paint and they wrote a similar review. People who went to the show posted here that they felt the same way, so what does that have to do with you? There's no score to even with trolls or a grown man like you who makes up fairtyales stories even with written fake dialogue about Princes life as if you were there. Youre whole hateration was about Prince being broke with nothing to back it up, fake stories about what happened with warner brothers which you have yet to prove, even said he got evicted and had nothing to back up your stories. You basically clowned Prince for the microphone and piano tour and called people suckers for going, even even though the reviews were steller. Prince was worth 300 mil so he could afford to do whatever he wanted. Hmm i dare you to call those concertgoers names now in hindsight. So dont school me on attacking the Revolution. You never eluded to any kind concern for his health. More and more fairytales you write in the life and death of Prince. I stand by my review of first avenue shows. [Edited 9/11/16 7:37am]

As I have told you on numerous occasions, derailing threads with your personal grudges is pointless. Orgnote is your friend, use it. As for the rest of what you said... you are notoriously under-informed as usual, but argumentative and self-righteous regardless.

Everything she said is the truth. It's funny how people who don't want to be called on their BS suddenly want private discussions. When you lie in public that is where it needs to be exposed.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

I finally had a chance to review some clips from the show and I'm sorry, the shows were awful and I am thankful Prince moved on to other band members.

I know I'm going to get beat up and crucified for this but just as Prince was overly criticized here for everything he did, the Revolution will not get a pass.

Wendy was horrible. I'm not impressed with her opening to Purple Rain which sounded flat compared to the way Prince used to do it and lawd when she sang in 1999, she was off key off beat with no rhythmn and soul in her vocals.

The Baby I'm a Star rendition with Susannah dancing like Elaine from Seinfeld disbelief They were all out of sync singing the opening lyrics. Bilal tried his best.

I'm like is this the Revolution yall were hell bent on Prince reuniting with???? I actually had to go back and watch one of Prince's welcome to America shows and sit and be in awe on how he commanded the stage and had such control of his vocals and instrumentation with such ease.

Andre saved those shows and he's not apart of the Revolution.

I am sensitive to the fact that the fans needed this for healing purposes so Im glad they did it.I suppose

But watching those clips made me miss Prince even more. Man I miss him and there will NEVER be band leader like him ever and I am thrilled he moved on to the NPG and allowed himself to grow as a musician and explore othe avenues.

and before I hear excuses about how they had to work through the emotions and didnt have time to rehearse. Go back and listen to Prince's performance when he JUST heard Vanity died before taking the stage. He literally took my breath away.

For all those supporting any Revolution Tour, more power to you.

Good point about that night Prince learned about Vanity's death. Prince went on stage and completely reworked the songs to express his sense of loss. But I guess that's the difference between a real artist and a backing band.
The wooh is on the one!

Hah... I don't talk about youuuh, I don't talk about youuh! biggrin

Actually you both argue endlessly and aren't really interested in understanding where the other person's coming from, and settling it. You frequently disrepect the topic of the thread to go on personal tangents. It gets messy. In the past I just ignored your petty vendettas and confusing string of accusations. I'm probably going to continue to do that.

I'm fine with Wendy, Dez and Andre... to me Andre leading the band was ideal. I wish he would embrace bringing a bit more of a Prince vibe to his stage presence, though I'm sure that's a lot to ask from someone who spent his entire career running away from the Prince label. Wendy's voice is fine for a lot of the songs though. I'm not sure why anyone felt the need to hire Bilal to do a poor-man's Prince impersonation.

Because other than D'Angelo, Bilal IS THAT DUDE!!!!!

Ive kept on topic and made my point to you about the word "attack".. Just as Bilal is trashed here, im free to write my review. Without Prince the Revolution is not tight as a stand alone. Thats my opinion. Ive witnessed tighter bands that played in Prince's absence. I was very dissappointed by what i saw, especially with Wendy on lead vocals. Andre saved the day and should consider doing more shows. In fact ive found similar reviews back in 2012 here on The Org. Thats my revelation about the Revolution.

I hope you're not implying that Bilal is a Prince "impersonator." As you said, if they plan to tour, The Revolution is now faced with the task of selecting the right "personnel" to make that possible. They are wise enough to know that they need someone with the chops and range to sing Prince's catalog. I can't believe that you actually suggested that The Rev have a background vocalist to sing in the back, with a tambourine, to hit the high notes. I guess that would be preferable to having Bilal on stage. That is among the wildest things I have read on The Org, and that's saying A LOT.

[Edited 9/10/16 21:29pm]

Bilal was never a member of any Prince band and does not belong in the equation. Any solution that does not involve him, is the better choice. His prescence alone, kills the entire point of The Revolution reforming.

Anyone so blatantly clueless about Bilal - isnt worth paying attention to imo.

Its patently funny to be this clueless really. lol lol lol

Exactly. Prince was criticized throughout his career by people on this message board, so now The Revolution is supposed to be spared because they haven't played together consistently for over 3 decades. Gimme a break. Bilal is a great vocalist but is he campaigning for a gig in a Prince tribute band or is he interested in establishing his own musical mark? Prince's music speak for him the loudest-so now that The Revolution have musically grieved and paid homage to their former bandleader, I hope The Revolution are involved to consult with the estate on posthumous music they were involved in making and leave it at that.

Establish his own musical mark? You cannot possibly be that ignorant. disbelief

Bilal is well established and was doing them a damn favor. Bilal is the TRUTH, son!

Thank you!

I have to agree with much of this. Of course, actually being at the event, any event, you are going to get a better experience. Having said that, your comments made me realize just how far Prince had evolved as a performer and from that material. I can't see The Revolution backing him for the SOTT or Lovesexy era. They come off as stiff and unable to improvise as well as later bands and musicians. Its not a dig at them. They are good at what they do for what they did, at that time. These shows made it all too obvious how far Prince had come from that era, even if it was his most commercially succesful.

If you werent there you really cant pass judgement. The sum of an experience isnt only what transmits through video - and this is why Prince promoted real music with real musicians with real participants -

the sum of this expereince couldnt be quantified in video clips - if thats all you saw and you have the nerve to pass judegemnt - you are an idiot.

A live experience... in person is a connection. ...More than you can transmit via video - alot of us have seen the revolution with Prince in their heyday - and the love and the connection to people who made them famous was there... out loud and in person. Bilal was perfection outside of having Prince there...The Revolution and Andre and Dez were faithful to the versions of songs we know and love ...they can kick anyone s ass any day of the week and they barely rehearsed ...if you dont understand or kow Bilals chops than your're just an idiot with no knowledge of his bonafides...

How is Bilal "campaigning for a gig" in a Prince tribute band? Where is all the Bilal hate coming from?? From the beginning of his career, because of his crystal clear falsetto, he has been compared to P. And, if he never records another bar, his debut album "1st Born Second" will always be regarded as a classic. He has a major cult following. Even while Prince was alive, Bilal covered a few of his songs. The "Sister" cover was done in 2013, while P. was alive. Finally, I'm sure he didn't lobby for the plum role of singing some lead vocals for The Revolution. Wendy had already worked with him, at least once in 2013. And no doubt, like just about everyone who watched the BET Tribute, The Rev members were probably blown away with his rendition of The Beautiful Ones. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Andre and Dez. I mean, they are world class musicians and they were among Prince's earliest collaborators and bandmates. Andre is like his brother. But neither of them has a vocal range that is anywhere near Prince's. So, should they be the lead vocalists for The Revolution? Realistically, only in a limited capacity. That's why Bilal was tapped: HE. HAS. THE. CHOPS. He's not Prince, clearly...but he is one of FEW living singers who can SANG P.'s songs, and not make us wince.

Thank. YOU.

Hell, they need to be glad Bilal showed up because from what I heard they needed all the help they could get.

Like I was saying, folks are STILL reeling over 1st Born Second. This article says it ALL. Bottom line: Bilal is more relevant than ever.

THE REVISIT: BILAL’S â€... SECOND’

"Bilal has been heralded for lending his vocals to Kendrick Lamar’s To Pimp A Butterfly in 2015, but the closing track on First Born Second is more relevant today, 15 years later, than ever. Speaking to the status of Black Americans in this country, Bilal digs into a rawness that only he can deliver. The psychedelic instrumentation literally emulates the state of insanity many of us are finding ourselves in after months of seeing ourselves killed by police on loop. I couldn’t think of a better way to end this incredible album.

Bilal’s career over the last 15 years has taken him all over the world and his fans across the musical landscape. We’ve loved. We’ve been fed up. We’ve been feenin’. We’ve felt loss. Bilal’s music was there for all of it and served as the perfect score. Read More...

lol I'm one of those who would argue like you with people who were not there who dissed Prince concerts, especially when I was there myself. I'm sure fans had a blast and the experience is what was needed, but I have never, seen the flatness, bad vocals and screw ups in a Prince live show, especially in his recent years like I saw in the clips. I hope they tighten up.

I agree with others on here and I said it before that Wendy just not strong vocally, and I was unimpressed when she sang Sometimes It Snow In April at First Avenue. I listened to her sanging with Prince on When Doves Cry demo years ago and she was awful. Her voice is better for alt rock type of songs. I wish Lisa sang Sometimes It Snow In April even though I prefer Susannah and Jill vocals. Jill also said recently on her Facebook page that Sheila (all this time I thought it was Wendy) sang Irresistable Bitch in the studio but Wendy was credited and Take Me With You was actually sang mostly by Lisa and Jill indicate PRince's ongoing practices at that time credit women who can't sang and mixed their voices with women who can sang.
