FUNKYNESS

Sandra St Victor

Did you see the clip of her butchering the Beautiful Ones after talking about Prince like he was her buddy. I know they did Soul Sanctuary for Emancipation but I read that she was talking about legal action over some royalties on that track or something like that. Funny how people show themselves as a great friend after a legend passes.

I have loved her since Ghetto Heaven so I guess that is just how fake show business people are. THe same could be said for Morris Day to some extent. He was bad mouthing Prince over the Time name situation but now he is Prince's brother.

Legal issues aside, I thought she did a great job on Beautiful Ones and Soul Sanctuary...

Posted the performance here - http://prince.org/msg/5/425588

I thought it was just me. I don't quite know how to take Morris Day's constant social media posts about Prince. I go back and forth. Sometimes, I feel that he is capitalizing on Prince death. Other times, I remember their storied, albeit sometimes bitter history, and I think that he might be genuine. Only he knows for sure...

Morris came out and said they patched things up back in January. He may feel bad about all the time they spent feuding. He knew him since they were 12 years old I am sure it is upsetting.

Regarding Morris and Prince's issues. It is very possible to have brotherly love for someone and still be frustrated with what they've said or done to you. Morris and Prince were the best of friends. Few people knew Prince like Morris knew him and there is a reason that their relationship lasted decades. It isn't a contradiction to me to hear Morris upset about something that Prince had done because disagreements can happen to anyone.

Overall, I think that Morris probably misses him dearly and feels like he lost a brother, and Prince also knew that Morris was one of those guys that he could call to get someone being real with him. I'm glad they made up, but I think they've fought and made up many times over the 40ish years they've been friends. That happens.

The expanded version of my book PRINCE and The Purple Rain Era Studio Sessions 1983-1984 was released in November 2018. (www.amazon.com/gp/product/1538114623/ref=dbs_a_def_rwt_bibl_vppi_i0) or www.facebook.com/groups/1...104195943/
