I came back to comment that I do think some of this could've been about religion. And I'll leave it at that .

It's not about religion, is about his following bible standards, something he believed in when he became a JW. If he wasn't a JW who lives by bible standards, them he wouldn't have tried hard to stay with her. Normally when he's done in a relationship, he's done. But not with his obligation/promise to live up to those bible standards.

Given the ratio of people that don't seem to feel for Mani here, I'm wondering if Prince's family had issues with her. I don't know if he cheated or not. Seems like every single break up is all his fault, I'm not sure about all that.

I don't understand the need to blame anyone since we just don't know and it's none of our business.

But I also doubt that he's the only one to blame. It takes two to tango.

It's interesting seeing what people KNOW what happened. Seems a lot of things could have caused it to happen. I see she ain't talking, she has gotten jumped on too many times I guess for making random statements. Don't get me wrong I'm as noisy as anybody.

remember an orger here asked her about the divorce, in a roundabout way on FB, and MT said it wasn't about cheating. i dunno if that's the truth but that is how MT responded.

Well that is reassuring to hear! With his track record you know, ....... neutral ...it would be hard to trust him as a husband...but I hope his religious conversion made him take marriage more seriously and stay faithful to his wife while married to her. Although back in the day, I totally wanted Prince and fantasized about his playboy self.... cool ....all just fantasy though...I would really hope he had a happy marriage with her. I know some fans dog Mani, perhaps out of loyalty for P but honestly, who knows what marriage was really like to him and how overwhelming the challenges was for them. Perhaps there was something else that made her decide to divorce him, something that couldn't be resolved. There is so much in this world that works against married people in society nowadays, hopefully they didn't have to deal with temptation and infidelity in addition. I'm sure being married to Prince though, Mani knew she would have to tolorate females around as Prince always seemed to have female friends and prefered women's company in general. That wouldn't be easy for me so I give props to Mani for being able to deal with it.

I always thought Prince was loyal in this marriage because I could tell he was maturing. And religion did have a lot to do with his maturing.

Excellent answer. Thank you.
I will only say this once: Mani reminds me if who I used to be. I thought saving the world would make me feel like a good person, and I thought it would cause others to see me as such too.
When really, that was an illusion I got from my parents who were the same.
You said the real solution: finding a higher power.
It's down here on earth VERY ANONYMOUSLY that we make the biggest difference.
That being said, it seems Prince did a lot better later on.

I think his religion did have something to do with his not wanting the divorce. He really believes strongly in the creed he followed. I think he came to see later on that there are all different kinds of love.

You guys speak on Mani being allowed to divorce him first due to the JW affiliation but Mani was married to him for 5 years, was she not JW as well? Wouldn't the same "rules" apply?

Exactly. She at one time was closely associated along with Prince as a J. W. Somewhere along the way E.B. entered heavy in the picture...accountability we all will individually face.

His spokesperson responded to her divorce proceedings by saying, "He doesn't want this."

Of course he's going to say he didn't want a divorce! What else would he say? Because if he really didn't want a divorce there wouldn't have been one! But what does it matter now...Manuela married another celebrity she's back in the limelight and now exploiting her daughter, and Prince is gone! She'll be just fine!

StopIt

His traumas at much younger ages than his celebrity played as great a role, if not greater.

Marrying a child with no education, followed by a celebrity stalker ain't gonna cut it for a man where he was on any level.

For God's sake, Mani's grand ambitions With her "college degree" and on his dime amounted to aspiring to sell candles? Or both wives wanted to sell candles, whatever. Not exactly much going on upstsairs, but either way, he wasn't willing to sacrifice enough to nuture a family (biological or not) with Mayte. Seems it was against his religion to make petri dish surrogate babies, which most celebrities do now when they want something. The whole outcome sucks.

ISaidLifeIsJustAGame said:

Everyone needs to remember Prince became successful on some level by the age of 18 years. I believe celebs/musicians/famouspeeps stop growing to a certain degree when they become successful/famous. So Prince was always the 18 year old dude his entire life. Hence, always being surrounded by women younger than him. He never aged in earth years.

Think back when you were 18 and suddenly you no longer needed to grocery shop. do laundry, clean the house, write a check, go to the store, cook, go to a job everyday, pay bills, call freaking AT&T for a new Internet service, get a new cell phone, without someone doing all the leg work for you. This happened to P when he was 18! No wonder he was "different." He never had a regular life. NEVER! You all know how much you have changed since you were 18 and you had to do things for yourself.

So, to answer OP questions which I have diverted from, Prince pushed Mani away, and her only choice was to file for divorce. His JW beliefs would not allow him to file for divorce, and he was forced to say he didnt want the divorce. Right, or wrong. I dont like Mani but I dont judge. Okay, that was a lie. I do judge. But after drinking whine, I only judge, a little bitty bit. That was a lie too, razz razz razz razz

It wasn't hilarious when she woke him up in between concerts, it was immature, obnoxious, and not at all comical. It was very forced and attention-seeking on her part. Next.

tmo1965 said: Damaris was just a friend. A very good friend. I can tell by the way they interacted with each other - and she has said as much openly and directly. Judith Hill was a young artist he believed in and he loved her voice. He was attracted to her musically as an artist and considered her someone he wanted to help in his effort to keep real music out there. Tamran Hall? That one I haven't figured out yet but it seems to me there was some kind of obsession there. Good ol Prince was very very attractive like that. He could make a woman throb with just a sentence or by walking into a room. God that man was somethin else. (sigh)

He and Damaris were clearly very good friends. She posted a picture of the two of them in Paris on her Instagram page maybe 1.5 or 2 years ago. We all know he was very private, so obviously he was okay with it because they were still hanging out together until just before his death, e.g. the Warriors game. I listened to this interview she did with an Australian radio station where she wakes up Prince on-air. It's hilarious!

I had heard about Judith Hill because she talked about being on the plane with him. This thread is the first I have heard of him being friends with Tamron Hall.

Anyone else wonder if he wrote the song "Black Muse" for Damaris?
