I read that Manic Monday and 17 Days was written for Vanity also. If she had stuck it out and did Purple Rain, with the hoopla she would've had coming off the success of that film and had recorded Sex Shooter along with TGL/MM/17Days, she would've been huge!
I absolutely believed this also. Vanity to me was the ultimate protege. Life and bad decisions just got in the way... If Vanity had done Purple Rain,(and stayed away from drugs for that matter) forget it.. She would have taken the world by storm. Far beyond Appolonia's or even Sheila E's success. That role was meant for her (literally and figuratively speaking). She just had that IT factor. The next Marilyn Monroe IMO. Man, her story is so tragic... The only comfort is that she found the Lord in the end and that was his plan all along... I love the similarities between her and Prince in that regard. [Edited 6/14/16 5:56am]
