Andy Allo at Hop Farm

Canny voice and everything, but she barely knew which end of the guitar to hold, and at one point I swear she was miming a rhythm part.

Kind of pissed me off when he then shouted "Real Music By Real Musicians!"

thank u 4 a funky time

i've always been of two minds about her. there are videos that pre-date Prince where she's playing and singing well enough. There is the 'yellow gold', 'people pleaser' videos where she's pretty good. And Then yeah everything i have seen of her with P,she looks lost. there was one video where he had to trun here guitar on for her and I remeber thinking WTF! the difference in acoustic and electric is not that big but you do have to turn it on!.

That´s something I never understood about Andy.

She did play guitar well enough before joining Prince´s band, and I liked the acoustic songs she did with Prince, and I also like her on AOA and she has this amazing song called This Feeling (with Miguel Migs, house music) but during those two years and two tours she looked so clueless on stage, whether she was "playing" guitar or drawing pictures, just very out of place and clueless even though she is obviously capable of both, playing guitar and singing. I actually happen to like her raspy voice.

But, speaking of singing...she also looked a bit nervous and was barely audible during the Melkweeg show in Amsterdam.

Maybe she was just nervous when he´s share the stage with her?

It´s still a mystery to me.

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Andy Allo is amongst his top collaborations. Superconductor is up there as one of the best protege albums. Her collaborations on Prince songs, like Black Muse, Time, This is What it Feels Like, and others are also very good.

Andy definitely wasn't a strong guitarist initially, however, she has improved greatly overtime. Acoustic suits her much more than electric, however, having seen her live, it's clear Prince taught her a great deal. Let's be clear though, I'm pretty sure he took her under his wing partly because he was attracted to her, perhaps they fell in love. That's also pretty clear looking back at the W2Europe videos.

I do think for what she lacked in musicianship, she made up for in personality and she was a great collaborator. I really love Superconductor and the duets she did with Prince are classic in my opinion. Aside from the music, I think she influenced him aesthetically and he looked really happy around the 2011-2012 time period. Dare I say they looked happy together.

i confess i've given 'superconductor' another listen and most of it's grown on me. her acoustic stuff is a little weak but i love 'nothing more'.

I believe it was in the Paris tv show that she said she was there to make Prince happy or have him be in a good mood. Prince always called the shots on his performances but it irritates me how he would boss Andy around in some of the W2A Euro concerts, like "do the Cameroon" or whatever that dance was called, but she chose to be in his band so what can I say.

I actually like Andy. I did have to warm up to her music though. But I always thought she seemed bright and warm. smile That whole Cameroon thing really irritated me though. It's actually not called that. EVERYONE in West Africa does that dance. lol People Pleaser was a good song as soon as I heard it though. And yellow gold is really smooth....especially live.
